  The food was good, and the server was nice but it took over an hour after our small plates, for our 2 sushi rolls to arrive. Our beverages were empty many times as well. Expected more for the price and what I had heard about this restaurant in the past.

  I had a pleasant dinner at O-Ku. The restaurant is beautiful, with a stylish and welcoming atmosphere that makes it a great place for a night out. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. The food was good, fresh, and nicely presented. However, while I enjoyed everything I ordered, nothing really stood out as exceptional or gave me that “wow” factor. Overall, it’s a very good restaurant with a great ambiance and excellent service, but I expected a little more from the food. 4 out of 5 stars.

  I have been to this location five times, but unfortunately, my most recent experience was incredibly underwhelming. I coordinated a "girl dinner" for a party of 8 with the manager 5 to 6 weeks in advance to ensure everything would go smoothly. Despite the advanced planning, once my entire party was seated, it took about 90 minutes for our food to arrive. To make matters worse, our server was highly inattentive. We watched smaller tables around us get seated and served well before us, and our server never once gave us an update or apologized for the delay. I had to flag her down just to ask about our order. The rush at the end was equally frustrating. About 25 minutes after we finally got our food, a group of staff members suddenly came over and cleared all of our plates without even asking if we wanted boxes. Immediately after, our server rushed us straight into ordering dessert. As a frequent customer, I was really disappointed by the lack of communication and care for a planned group event.

  We had an amazing dinner here — food, music, and atmosphere was 10/10!! Carson was so attentive and knowledgeable and gave incredible service. I highly recommend!

I celebrated my birthday here with three dear friends visiting from New Jersey, and from the moment we walked in, it was clear this evening was going to be something special. Unbeknownst to me, OKU had reached out to my daughter ahead of time to learn about my passions. When I arrived, I was presented with a beautifully personalized canvas bag imprinted with mah jong and pickleball — two things I love — along with a custom birthday menu. I was completely taken by surprise. That kind of intentional, personal touch is something you simply don’t find at most restaurants, no matter the price point. The hospitality continued with a complimentary appetizer that was as delicious as it was generous. Then came the sushi — and it was extraordinary. Clean, fresh, and expertly crafted. So good, in fact, that I’m already going back this week. My friends dine regularly in Manhattan and have high standards. Every single one of them was blown away — by the food, the service, and the whole experience. OKU Charlotte is the rare restaurant that combines world-class cuisine with genuine, heartfelt hospitality. It deserves every star and then some. If you’re planning a special occasion — or simply want an exceptional night out — this is the place.
