  We just had the BEST lunch at Kahlovera Mexican Bar & Grill on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill! My chorizo quesadilla was absolutely amazing, the kind of meal you’re still thinking about after you leave. I would happily come back just for that! The service was quick and attentive, and the prices were so reasonable. Delicious food, people who take great care of you, and excellent value made this such a great lunch experience. If you’re looking for Mexican food in downtown Chapel Hill, give Kahlovera a try. Highly, highly recommend!

  I can't say better things about this place!! The food was amazinggg and our server was even better! Mell is a great addition to the team, and I will definitely be requesting to sit in her section next time I'm there! Mell was so fast, very welcoming, and more than happy to answer questions! Candace was an amazing hostess; I couldn't pick a friendlier face to welcome you in. Will be coming back soon. I give this place a 100/10!!

  The Google rating brought us here, and it was spot on. This is a spacious, clean restaurant with a nice vibe, a great open bar area, and a big TV where an ACC game was playing. The consistency of the salsa was perfect for me - it is thick enough to sit on the chip but not chunky. The fajitas were a perfect ratio of chk to veg, the ingredient quality was on point, and the flour tortillas were perfect. Mel, Candace, and the GM whose name I did not catch were all friendly and helpful! This is a great addition to Franklin St., and I wish them well.

  From the moment we walked into Kahlovera Mexican Bar & Grill on West Franklin Street, we felt a great vibe. Guests were smiling, employees were welcoming, and the atmosphere felt relaxed, open, and attentive. The décor is beautiful—slightly upscale without feeling formal, with great lighting, colorful details, and plenty to look at throughout the restaurant. What impressed us most was the pride the staff took in the food. They were eager to tell us about the care that goes into preparing everything in-house, from the fresh chips to the queso and salsa. You could tell they genuinely wanted guests to understand that this was more than simply another Mexican restaurant. The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was friendly and attentive, and the entire experience felt thoughtfully put together. Great food, wonderful people, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. We will definitely be back!

  The food here is amazing—honestly, some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. We loved it so much that we came back twice in one week because everything was so tasty! Unfortunately, our experience yesterday completely changed how we feel about coming back. It was Margarita Monday, with $4.99 margaritas, and we specifically asked our waitress if that included all of the different flavors. She told us yes and said it applied to all margaritas. Based on what we were told, we ordered one flavored margarita and one house margarita. When the bill came, **both margaritas were charged at full price**—including the house margarita, which we believed should have been $4.99. When we politely asked about it, it turned into a huge ordeal that required the manager to come over. Instead of simply saying, “I’m sorry for the confusion. The house margarita should have been discounted, and the waitress gave you incorrect information about the specialty margaritas,” he was incredibly rude and condescending. He actually told us that **“we should know better”** and asked, **“Have you ever been to a restaurant?”** He continued to lecture us, saying that he would “lose money” if he gave us the specialty margarita for $5 and that we should have read the rules and restrictions online. Maybe 1 shot of tequila wouldn't put you in the hole, if you ever had customers in your restaurant. Both times we went, the place was empty! I wasn't asking for anything free, i was simply asking for the house marg to be rang up at the CORRECT PRICE, but suddenly I am the idiot??? Honestly, maybe your staff should be properly informed about the specials before blaming customers for believing what your own waitress tells them. We didn't demand anything unreasonable—we simply asked about a discrepancy after being given incorrect information. I have never experienced a manager speak to customers so rudely and condescendingly. I was genuinely shocked by the way we were treated. The food may be incredible, but customer service matters too, and because of this experience, we will never be spending our money here again. I dont think I have ever written a review before, but this was so ridiculous people deserve to hear it.
