First and foremost, the staff was incredible. They were so hospitable, charming, and kind. Our server was Dan. He was genuinely lovely and very helpful in navigating the menu. He is a huge reason we’re already planning to return for a special occasion. Now to the food—delicious, creative, and striking in flavor and color, especially if you like herbs, edible flowers, and vegetables. One of the most exciting features was how many different types of cheese we were exposed to through our dishes (brebis, ricotta salata, taleggio, for example)—and we didn’t even order pizza! These dishes seem very well thought out and it feels like there are options for omnivores and vegetarians alike. Unsure about vegan and gluten free options. The only change I would make would be to add symbols on the menu to signify vegetarian dishes, etc. The atmosphere was nice; we sat outside on the contained patio. There was live music on the corner that was awesome. The inside of the restaurant appeared to be beautiful with comfortable seating. Highly recommend this place for a special night of culinary adventure and positive human connection. (Thank you, Dan and friends for adding a new Asheville favorite to our list!)

First time in Asheville and Luminosa set the highest bar. For starters, the staff is so knowledgeable and personable. We had Evelyn as our server and she was so considerate with her explanations & recommendations. Then the food lived up to all the hype. It was fresh & well crafted with a variety of local ingredients. For starters we had the tomatoes, the oak leaf salad, and were gifted the cucumbers. All dishes were refreshing and packed with flavors. Between the 4 of us we had the Ribeye, the Rigatoni, the peach pizza, and the Pork chop with a side of the onions. Phenomenal presentation and unique/addictive taste. We ordered the tiramisu as a dessert and were surprised with the lemon ricotta cake as another gift. Holy moley - both of the dishes were perfectly balanced & scrumptious. We will be dreaming about this meal for the rest of our lives and can’t wait to return in the future.
Local ladies found our new favorite restaurant! Each year my friend, coworker and boss who owns the local bar I work at treats her employees to a Birthday Date. This year we chose Luminosa because we both LOVE playing tourists downtown and finding new spots to recommend as local bartenders at the oldest dive bar in Asheville. The folks here hooked us up!
The vibe was chill and so unpretentious! Our server felt like an old friend we had known for years and he treated us to an amazing bubbly juniper drink and other birthday goodies like Carpacio and a pistachio cannoli.
We of course ordered the Rigatoni and a KC strip with bone marrow reduction both hit on every level you would expect! The surprise of our night was a simple wood fired cabbage dish that we devoured so fast we forgot to take a photo of!!
Anyway whether you're visiting Asheville or have lived here forever this is a spot to try! The vibe in the dining room is relaxed yet sophisticated with a neighborly welcomed feeling. Definitely make a reservation though. We called them to book but there are also online options
Oh! And after dinner venture up to the rooftop lounge for stunning views! I even spotted my own house across the river! Haha

Luminosa is truly one of the best dining experiences I've had! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, elegant, and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the evening.
Our server Christina, was amazing! She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, made excellent recommendations and made all of us feel so special. We were there to celebrate my birthday and Christina and the staff really showed up and showed out. I had the Best Birthday experience!
The food was absolutely outstanding—every dish was beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. You can really tell that the chefs take pride in using high-quality ingredients and preparing each meal with care. Every bite was memorable, and the attention to detail was impressive.
The ambiance perfectly complements the dining experience, making it an ideal place for a romantic dinner, a celebration, or simply a great night out. If you're looking for exceptional food, excellent service, and a beautiful setting, Luminosa is a must-visit. I can't wait to come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience!
To all the staff at Luminosa, you are amazing and we can't thank you enough.
Your talents, sacrifices and hard work were seen and greatly appreciated!
I'm updating my review. This was my first negative review and I noticed management often responds to reviews. Since mine did not receive a response, I thought it may have lacked context or credibility.
My 86-year-old mother had just driven six hours to visit me, a longtime local, and we wanted a relaxed, casual, late dinner. A friend had recommended Luminosa's rooftop for pizza, so we stopped in at 830 for the first time hoping for a seat at the restaurant or rooftop bar. Since restaurant seating wasn't available, the hostess warmly suggested the rooftop bar, where we could order pizza. We enjoy inventive wood-fired, thin-crust pizza so it sounded good.
Unfortunately, when we arrived at the rooftop bar, we didn't feel particularly welcome. However, we ordered our pizza and sat on the terrace, where we struck up a pleasant conversation with a couple. After about 30 minutes, I wondered aloud where our food might be. The woman we were speaking with suggested I check with the bartender because their own order had also been delayed and they believed she had not placed their order. By this time, the kitchen would likely have been closed.
When I asked about our pizza, the bartender's response was casual and vague. About ten minutes later, a server brought our pizza in the kitchen's cardboard box and commented that the markings on the box didn't match our order but that it was "okay."
The pizza arrived cold, burnt, dry, and stiff. We couldn't know for certain what happened, but it seemed as though it had been previously discarded and then briefly reheated. We were hungry and it was late, so we ate what we could, but it was easily the poorest thin crust pizza either of us has ever been served.
As we left, no one acknowledged us or asked about our experience. Later, my mother, never one to complain, quietly remarked, "That was the worst pizza of my life." She also questioned if they had served it to us because she was an old woman who was not welcome in the restaurant.
I'm writing because genuine hospitality gets lost in this town amid Michelin buzz, luxury branding, designer interiors, and social media appeal. Beautiful spaces and ambitious cuisine can be appealing, but they cannot replace gracious service and consistently good food that create positive memorable experiences for guests, who are living people not media posts.
