Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
We tried to have lunch there today. As we walked in, we saw there was no one working at the counter. And the front door was not clean. We waited a bit, then the cashier walked in from the parking lot. Never washed her hands, then proceeded to put on her hairnet. We stood there waiting for quite a while for her to take our order, then she said she was waiting for her register drawer. After waiting even longer, we left & so did all of the people waiting behind us. We could not even order food. Not cool, Whataburger.

I had a very disappointing experience at this Whataburger location today. I came through the drive-thru and simply said that I had a coupon for a free Whataburger. The employee immediately asked me for some kind of “Q” code, but I had no idea what he was referring to because I do not use the Whataburger app and I do not work there.
At first, he seemed to think I had the app and was trying to get me to find the code there. I explained that I do not have the app, so then he said, “Well just give me the code on the card.” I responded asking, “What code?” because I genuinely did not know where he meant.
Instead of simply explaining that the code was located underneath the barcode on the card, he became rude, impatient, and caught an attitude with me. As a customer, I should not be expected to automatically know their system or terminology. A simple explanation would have solved the entire issue in seconds.
When I pulled up to the window, I asked to speak to the manager because there was no reason for the attitude. While I was calmly explaining the situation, the manager was dismissive and repeatedly rolled her eyes at me, which made the experience even worse.
Both the employee and the manager handled this poorly, and it left a very negative impression.

Food is decent and priced just as high as everywhere else so can't hold that against them. Counter service is always a slow and they have always forgot at least one item from my order. I don't do drive thru so don't know about the speed when wasting fuel in line for that. All fast food places seem to have lack luster service now a days. I feel it's because of a certain demographic of employee accompanied by a lack of accountability from employers and supervisors.

Large fries and onion rings were half full. Burger had extremely too much mayonnaise. Made it a horrible mess. Mayonnaise was all over the bun and wrapper. Was our 1st and last time visiting this location. Asked for condiments, wanted their special ketchup and there was none in the bag. No napkins in the bag. Food was initially brought to the car and the worker asked did they already bring you rhe drinks? Ummm aren't you in there with "them" and should know? Do you typically being meals to cars in stages?
