Our World Famous Huey burgers have been voted Best Burger in Memphis since 1984. - VBVa Bond1 day ago1.0This was a take out order. I ordered one hour in advance which was a HUGE mistake. Evidently the food was made immediately and left to sit on a shelf without a heat lamp in the pickup area. We spent $88 on inedible food. Mushrooms and potatoe skins were cold and the same temperature as the horseradish and sour cream. The onion rings were cold, limp and nasty. At least the potato skins are were salvageable, the mushrooms and onion rings are going in the trash. Don't order ahead. One of my burgers was the Sunshine. The egg was hard fried. It's supposed to run over the burger. How does it run if the yolk is cooked?
- KBKen Bogan2 days ago1.0I’ve lived in Memphis my entire life and have been to Huey’s locations all over the area. I’ve always had great food and, more importantly, great service. That’s why my experience at the Olive Branch location tonight was so disappointing. When we walked in, we were left standing at the door for quite a while before anyone bothered to acknowledge us. When someone finally did, the greeting was essentially, “How many? Two? Okay,” followed by a point toward the outside seating area. That was it. No “Sorry for the wait.” No “How are you tonight?” No “Would you prefer a booth or a table?” No attempt whatsoever to make us feel like welcomed customers. And considering a massive thunderstorm had just moved through, being casually pointed toward a damp outdoor area with a terrible atmosphere was an especially poor choice. At that point, we simply looked at each other and decided to leave. Here’s the part management should really think about: we weren’t asking for special treatment. We were asking for the bare minimum. Hospitality starts the moment a customer walks through the door. A simple greeting, acknowledgment, and basic effort to make people feel welcome aren't advanced customer-service concepts. They are literally the foundation of the restaurant business. It doesn't take my own management experience to understand this simple concept. What concerns me most is that this didn’t feel like one employee having a bad moment. It felt like a failure of training, leadership, and standards. Employees generally perform at the level management accepts. If this is considered acceptable customer service at the Olive Branch Huey’s, management has a much bigger problem than one unhappy customer. I have given Huey’s my business for years and have consistently walked away impressed. Tonight, I walked away without even ordering because the experience before we ever reached a table was enough to tell us our business wasn’t particularly valued. Management should be embarrassed that a lifelong Memphis customer who has had nothing but positive experiences with Huey’s elsewhere walked into this location and immediately decided to take his business somewhere else. You don't lose customers when the food comes out 10 minutes late. You lose them when you make them feel like their presence doesn't matter. That’s exactly what happened tonight.
