First of all, the only reason we’re giving this two-star review is because of Mary, who worked with us at the end, who wasn’t even our assigned waiter. otherwise, it would be a one for sure, and if there was a star rating that began with a negative symbol, it would probably have gotten that. So my wife and I, who rarely get a moment to go to lunch together, stole an opportunity to get what we thought was going to be a nice sit-down lunch on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Well, didn’t quite turn out that way… Restaurant shows nice enough and the menu gets you looking forward to what’s coming, Especially since the prices are a bit higher than average. But then, as far as our assigned waiter, Mario — in a word, Terrible. Screwed up our order, then argued with us about what we ordered, even though we ordered what he recommended!! Brought out something completely different, and even if we had ordered what he insisted that we ordered, that order was wrong! Really?? Different steak, no grilled onions, no rice and beans, no tortillas – even though he asked us what type of tortillas we wanted – because he insisted that we only ordered “fries.” We never even use the word “fries,” either in English or Spanish, when we ordered. We said that we wanted dessert at the outset, once we were done with our meal, which was average at best, but then he just simply asks “Is everything okay? Okay. So… I’ll get you your check.” Couldn’t seem to get us out of there fast enough. Mary, on the other hand, who came to clear our plates, saw that we were visibly upset and listened to our experience. She apologized – whereas Mario offered no apology whatsoever for the poor experience – and comped an order of churros, which were actually pretty good! If we come back, it’s only because Mari saved the day. This was a no tip experience. In terms of price, like I said before, quite a bit above the average. Also, no chips and salsa, as is assumed complementary in every other Mexican Restaurant we go to. So, especially factoring in the experience, doesn’t seem worth the cost. Maybe next time will be better, if we choose to go… But ONLY If Mary is working.

We came in for lunch and while the food was okay, it definitely wasn’t the upscale Mexican food we had expected. Not much was upscaled but the prices unfortunately. The Birria tacos looked good, but they didn’t come with any sides with the exception of some broth with obvious fat floating on top. I’ d ordered the combo and while I enjoyed the enchilada with a molé sauce, the quesadilla was weird. I didn’t find any chicken in it and the cheese had a strange processed quality to it. My biggest issue was the restroom. I stopped in about 12:50pm and the floors were literally floating in water. I fall really easily and the lack of wet floor signage was a bad error on their part. The water appeared to be residual water from mopping but why they’d mopped at that time is a mystery. Either that or they’d used way too much water before opening and it hadn’t yet dried by then. The amount of water there would have taken days to dry, it was a serious amount and dangerous to anyone with stability issues. Someone obviously needs to address this asap.

I had a southwest bowl with steak for lunch today, and it was not a good experience. It was dry with small chipotle sauce that was gross. I asked for Salsa and was charged $3 for a small ramekin of salsa that was tasteless. I get where in MN and most dial down spice, but I should taste something? No? The steak was seasoned okay, but with consistency of shoe leather, it was horribly overcooked. It also wasn't sliced properly so you get these large strips of inedible steak with no knife to cut it. Makes sense since it take a miracle blade or light saber to get through it. Shredded iceberg lettuce was brown and wilted. Service was good.

This was our first time at Blue Agave. Here are things we liked: Waiter was great. It looked like they only had 2 wait staff for the entire restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive. Food. The food was good and there were a lot of unique options you do not normally see at a Mexican restaurant. My margarita was delicious. Here is what we did not like as much. I wish we would have known we should make reservations ahead of time. We dis not go until around 7 pm and we still had a 30 minute wait. Prices are very high for a Mexican restaurant. We ordered 2 entrees, one margarita, a mixed drink and a beer for 2 of us. Our bill was over $90. You do not get chips and Salsa. Instead, you have to instead pay $11 for chips with a flight of salsa. Parking is minimal. We are glad we tried it, but for the quality and prices, we will just stick to the Mexican restaurants in neighboring towns.

No house music, there was clearly no communication between staff. We were seated, and waited 10 min before a server addressed us. Another 15 min before our order was taken. Server seemed super inconvenienced when we placed a drink order and apps; expecting him to return to take our dinner order. So, we felt obligated to place our entire order at once, on the spot. Texas margaritas were ok, the tap beers were flat and warm. They forgot one of our apps and brought it out to us after dinner, cold. Our margarita flight was half melted by the time it was dropped off at our table. We had our checks placed in front of us without asking if we were done or needed anything else. The tabs were never asked to be separated and were incorrect.
