I placed an order for delivery. Despite there being a link to track the order in the email receipt, tracking did not function at all. (According to the person I talked to later, "this isn't Domino's" and they just don't have tracking, so this is really misleading if so.) I called once to check in after about an hour, and was told that they were very busy and they only had one driver, so it might take awhile. This was somewhat understandable, but definitely not great considering Jimmy Johns' tagline is literally about how fast their delivery is. But I was fine with giving it some time.
Eventually, after 2 and a half hours of waiting, I called back to cancel the order and hopefully get a refund. To my surprise, they told me they had already delivered it, despite never contacting me or letting me know in any way. I live in an apartment building where food gets stolen frequently. (And as a side note, I always ask orders to be left in the lobby *for the benefit of drivers*, so they don't have to wait to be let in, or find my apartment in an unfamiliar building.)
Since I didn't get the food, I tried to ask for a refund anyway. I talked to two different people and asked in a polite and reasonable manner. Both of them got snippy and rude. They tried to tell me that since I asked for the order to be left in the lobby and didn't *specifically* ask them to call, it wasn't their responsibility to let me know it was delivered. I pointed out that this isn't reasonable because, with a delayed order, no tracking, and no notification of arrival, there's no way I can possibly know when to go down. They just insisted it wasn't their fault and refused the refund because the order already went out. When I insisted, they first tried to give me a store credit instead. Eventually they agreed to the refund (allegedly, it hasn't shown up in my account yet so I can't confirm). Even so, the service was terrible and it's not enough to make up for the hours wasted and the resulting headache.
