The food was super delicious (I highly recommend the chicken biscuits), but unfortunately the service was lacking. There were many open tables and staff kept walking by without acknowledging us, making us reconsider our breakfast spot. We ran out of water and no one refilled it and also wanted to ask for ketchup but after a long while, we ended up going up to the counter and getting it off the staff cart so we could put a bit on our plates then returning it. The environment was quite loud. If I ever go back, I would ask to sit outside and maybe ask for a pitcher of water beforehand so we do not get thirsty.

Been here a few times and it’s always amazing! Fast and friendly service, great food and drinks. This last time I had the strawberry matcha (one of the best I’ve had!) and my partner and I split the cottage bruschetta (added over easy egg and bacon) and the pork belly and biscuit. Carrot cake pancakes for dessert. The menu changes seasonally and we are never disappointed with the updates. Spacious patio seating with a lovely atmosphere. 10/10

The food here is excellent.
Come early, it fills up quick.
Another quick tip is that the sausages are the size of saucers. One sausage is enough to feed multiple people. Also they are delicious.
One negative is that regular drip coffee is $6. It is a fine cup of coffee but not much better than Folgers.

I don't know if they just seriously messed up their carrot cake pancakes or what. I couldn't even eat them because it seemed like they had accidentally dumped an entire spice container into the batter. My pancakes definitely did not match the look of the other carrot cake pancakes on these reviews. The service was fantastic, but the food was just really disappointing. I just wanted to let someone know to double check this batter before serving them!

Dear Hope Bar Management Team,
Sofia was my server very disappointed
I’m reaching out from your St. Paul location this afternoon to express my concern about the service experience I’ve encountered. The waiting staff has been remarkably unwelcoming, and the overall atmosphere feels tense rather than inviting. Each staff member I interacted with seemed disengaged, which significantly affected the dining experience.
Customer-facing roles demand attentiveness and a positive attitude, and it’s disheartening to see this missing today. Poor service can discourage patrons from returning and may also impact the establishment’s reputation. I strongly believe that with proper training and management attention, this issue can be turned around to ensure every guest feels valued.
Please take a moment to look into this matter and share how you plan to address the staff’s approach toward customers.
Thank you for your attention,
Very disappointed customer... first visit and very last visit!!!!
The service would be rated a negative 5 if I could.
