This place is an embarrassment. All they have to offer is incredibly unpredictable hours (if they are open at all) incompetent staff and poorly made products. Whoever owns this place should have their franchise agreement torn up by DQ corporate.

Very slow and out of a lot of things. Seems like poor management

Tried to grab some ice cream with my daughter today (July 11, 2024). Waited in line for 20 minutes and no one ever came to the window, but there were 4-5 people inside the building. While we waited we could see other people come and go from the store who were clearly not employees, but were inside the building. The place reeked of weed and there was a group of people hanging out by the back door smoking. Finally after 20 minutes, one family was finally asked for their order, but then the window closed again. It took 10 minutes for them to make 3 Blizzards. Meanwhile no other orders were taken. Customers started leaving. We waited another 5 minutes or so and left. This is not the first time I've had a experience like this at the Roseville Dairy Queen...but it was the worst and my last. We'll be making a bit longer drive to the DQ on Lake Street where you can actually buy your kid an ice cream.

Update 6/17/24: Were closed at 7:55 despite online hours saying 9. An employee was there and refused to serve me and 4 other customers, telling one of us that they’d been closed since 6 pm. This is the second time this summer this has happened. This may be the oldest DQ in Minnesota, but it is also the absolute worst. 2023 update: I keep hoping this location will turn around, but it’s still terrible. Still closed at random hours that don’t match the google listing, still fails to adequately staff or pay its employees a living wage. It’s not a stretch to say that this may be the worst Dairy Queen in the US; it’s definitely the worst in the Minneapolis metro. Do yourself a favor and just go to the Original Malt Shop across Lexington. Original 2021 review: The soft serve is about what you’d expect from any DQ—no complaints. The employees are great—when they’re there. I live in the neighborhood. This isn’t the first or even the second time that this location has randomly been closed outside of its stated hours without even a sign on the window explaining why. If you state a 9 p.m. close time, the location shouldn’t be dark and deserted at 8:20. I’m legit confused how this location keeps its franchise with business practices like this. Suggestion: Actually pay your employees and managers a competitive wage and maybe you’ll manage to keep this place staffed during its stated hours. If fairly reimbursing workers for their labor is too high of a hurdle for you to clear, however, you should at the very least change your listed hours on Google.

2024 July update: I've been here three times in the last month or so, giving it a chance. First time they had run out of ingredients for blizzards. So we compromised, had something simple, but the soft serve mix was off- flavor, texture, color. Second time, the staff implicitly claimed there was a gas leaked and closed. That's fair! The third time, the staff were not really paying attention and the soft-serve mix was again not normal, impacting taste and texture, plus some standard blizzard ingredients were out. Always love this location, I hope it improves quality control and supply chain issues. I've always liked this DQ, it's local and a classic. This summer so far (May-June 2022) I've stopped by a few times during the evening, 7-9pm. It was closed. The hours on Google maps show 11am-9pm. Hopefully it improves!
