  Food was pretty decent. Fries were great - crispy and salted perfectly. The fish portion seemed small for the price ($20 for one piece and fries). The fish seemed under-salted but I liked the texture of the batter and it was easy to eat. I wish they had malt vinegar instead of white vinegar, but that’s not that big of a deal. The service was REALLY strange, though. We didn’t realize they’d gone to a seat yourself model and there is no indicating signage - thankfully, someone told us and we found a spot to sit. I asked one of the employees for the WiFi password and they told me they don’t know what it is - didn’t offer to find out. Just said “I have no idea. They told me when I first started.” I was standing right next to the expo area and witnessed the cooks and expo person struggling to figure out an order error. It was ongoing for quite a while that they couldn’t figure out where a specific order of fries was supposed to go. They ended up just using it for a different ticket. A while later, a customer came up to the counter explaining she hadn’t gotten her fries with her fish. The worker at the counter instantly became rude and defensive with her. The worker didn’t listen to the issue, just rudely snapped that they’d get their fries when they were ready and that they had a lot of tickets ahead of hers. The costumer did a good job of explaining that she wasn’t one of those orders - that her order of fries had been missed but that her table had gotten the rest of their order. Rather than listen to the situation or check with the cooks or expo worker (who would have realized this was the person missing the mystery fries) the worker instantly became defensive and passive aggressive. I am entirely confident they’ll never see those customers again (nor likely any of their friends or family) and it really soured my experience. So did the laziness and indifference of the worker not figuring out the WiFi password

  Amazing Atmosphere 👌 Luke is generous and welcoming. The whole crew was lively and upbeat. Everyone is smiling. The fish and chips are spot on!!! Delicious, perfectly cooked and the proportions kept my belly full. Walked away happy, stomach filled and soul fulfilled with an Irish grin I salute you Anchor and Chips for a fantastic dinner, friendliness crowd and one hell of a good time. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell a stranger… stop by this joint for a course in dinner by the sea, Irish style ☘️🇮🇪

  We were really looking forward to it eating at this long standing place; unfortunately it was a major disappointment. We all fot fish and chips. The fish was extremely oily and they only had white vinegar no malt vinegar the coleslaw was very dry and the potatoes were not worth eating. We took home leftovers but ended up throwing them away. Very disappointing.

  It is the best go-to place over the years, consistently. The staple "fish and chips" does not get any better, and it's one of the few places that I can find my Irish red ale on a tap , which is a huge plus. For quality and uniqueness I totally can see this place staying around for a hundred years and becoming a landmark.

  I am a MEGA CHIPPY fan so to hear about something like this in my hometown of Minneapolis was a must try. The Fish and chips is the best I’ve ever had. They fry everything in beef tallow so you don’t feel gross after eating it. I would also recommend getting the mushy peas as a side and the curry to dip your fries into. I would say one thing that could be improved on is the portioning. My wife got a larger piece of cod than me so I felt a bit jealous. I also think they should be giving just a little more chips in the basket, Many times I feel like I’m getting the scraps. I’ve also had to ask for a lemon every time after I get my food. Came back another occasion as well to try out some of the other menu items, they are absolutely amazing just like the fish and chips. The pastie has a perfect texture and they use the same batter as the fish. Me and my friend were blown away with the sausage. I didn’t think something as simple as a battered sausage could be so could good but they put as much care into it as everything else, don’t sleep on the meat options here! I think a place like this asking for tips before you pay is a bit strange considering you determine what tip to give based off of the service. However the waiters still come around the tables and ask you if you want any refills and are very friendly and accommodating. This is the best restaurant for fish and chips in Minneapolis and probably the state, keep it up Anchor!
