  I was in Minneapolis at a Convention recently, and I had the opportunity to dine at this Amazing Restaurant! The food was Delicious, the service was Impeccable, and the atmosphere was Genuinely Open, Friendly, and Inviting! The Drinks were Original, Creative, and Complemented the meal Quite Effectively! I would Highly Recommend Sonora Mexican Kitchen and Bar to Anyone looking for a Delicious Meal, with flavors So Culturally Authentic, they have the Power to bring back Childhood Memories! I will Definitely Dine at this restaurant whenever I am passing through Minneapolis again!

  Very nice atmosphere, but if you’re looking for a real authentic Mexican food, this is not the place to go. I must admit there ceviche and Agua Chile was pretty good.8/10 But the servers look really confused when I was asking questions about the food just overall it was a bad experience ended up taking my order to go

  We had an amazing experience at Sonora! At first we were leary after seeing mixed reviews online but can confidently say none were our experience. The food was incredible and had great flavor, especially when mixed with their homemade hot sauce. My wife had the bowl and I had the brisket burrito. Drinks were good and service was great (the red sauce packed a smoky punch)! It's clear that they are a little short staffed during certain times as our bartender was working as our server until things got a little busier, but another employee picked up our table seamlessly. If we lived in the area this would easily be on our regular list.

  I recently coordinated a partner dinner event for about 50 conference attendees at Sonora Mexican Kitchen, and I cannot recommend them highly enough for corporate events, networking receptions, or large group gatherings. Planning an event from out of state can be stressful, especially when you have to choose a restaurant and venue without being able to visit in person beforehand. There’s always some anxiety about whether the space will work well, whether the atmosphere will feel right, and whether the food and service will meet expectations for your guests. From the very beginning, the team at Sonora made that process feel easy and reassuring. They were incredibly responsive, organized, flexible, and genuinely helpful throughout the planning process. Their semi-private event space turned out to be absolutely perfect — open, welcoming, and ideal for networking and conversation without being overly loud or crowded. The location was also a huge advantage: just a short and convenient walk from both the conference center and nearby hotels, which made things especially easy for attendees. We chose a taco bar with appetizers, and the food exceeded expectations. Our attendees repeatedly commented on how delicious everything was. Most enjoyed second helpings and the portions were generous while still being perfectly suited for a reception-style event. The pacing of food and drink service was excellent throughout the evening, and the staff remained attentive, friendly, and professional the entire time. One detail I especially appreciated was how thoughtfully they supported the event logistics. They even provided a microphone setup for our welcome remarks. Everything that was described about this site was accurate and I do trust that the space could have easily accommodated a much larger group if needed. There’s even a cute outdoor patio dining space. Most importantly, the atmosphere they created encouraged exactly what we hoped for: meaningful conversation, networking, and a memorable experience for our guests. This is one of the best sites we’ve chosen for dinner reception over the past 6 years. I would absolutely host another event here and also look forward to returning personally whenever I’m back in Minneapolis. Thank you to the entire Sonora Mexican Kitchen team for helping make our event such a worry-free success.
