A bit of a mixed experience, but still worth a visit! The sauerkraut is excellent, the sausage is very good, and the cabbage soup was solid. However, I was really disappointed with the pierogi—they were quite dry. Prices are also on the higher side. The absolute saving grace and highlight of the meal was the cabbage roll: huge, packed with great flavor, and served with an outstanding selection of sauces. Definitely make sure to order the cabbage roll!

It's gotta be the best Eastern European cuisine in the whole state. Service and staff were absolutely top notch. I went in there not knowing what to get and the girl explained everything in detail without skipping a beat! Ended up with that huge variety plate and it was every bit as good as it looked. The market had an phenomenal selection of meats too not to mention.

Bought the cheesecake took it home. It was dried out and didn’t taste right at all, and I had to take him one bite. I brought it back in the container in the bag and the guy behind the counter basically said too bad you don’t like it. that’s not our fault that’s not our problem and I had to buy something else. They said the cheesecake they make every three days it’s not in the fridge obviously it went bad. I am a chef and a scientist and I know it was bad so I will never go there again to get talked down to by the male staff over on the bakery in the sausage side. And the women are all subservient on the other side. it’s really not that great or that reasonable in price anymore.

Kramarczuk's was my first time trying Ukrainian food, and they have a lot of easily accessible options, so I didn't know what to get and just trusted them. I got the borscht soup, and they complemented it with bread. It's a nice flavorful soup. I went during summer, but during the winter this would definitely hit the spot. My favorite was the cabbage roll with tomato sauce. I got half tomato and half onion, but the tomato sauce was my favorite part. I also had to get a perogi. I've had a couple of these before, but this one tasted amazing. I didn't try any, but they also have hot dogs made with their sausages, and I had some at the Twins game, so I'm assuming they taste amazing too. Service is great, and it's all cafeteria style.

Kramarczuk's has been on my radar for years, and the grinder finally got me in the door. This is a Ukrainian deli in Northeast Minneapolis that's been around since 1954, and it's a James Beard America's Classic, so the bar going in was already set high. The sandwich cleared it. I ordered the grinder to go, and "to go" understates what you're dealing with. This thing is the heaviest sandwich I've picked up in recent memory, easily denser than anything from a chain sub shop charging the same money. It's packed with krakowska, hot capicola, and provolone, plus lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a crunchy Italian slaw that actually adds texture instead of just sogging everything out by the time you get it home. The detail that sold me: they hollow out part of the bread roll to make room for more filling instead of more bread. That's the kind of small decision that tells you somebody actually thought about the sandwich instead of just assembling it. The garlic flavor from the meats comes through strong, in a good way, and I got it with hot peppers added, which I'd recommend to anyone ordering this. The heat plays well against the richness of the cold cuts and cuts through what is otherwise a very heavy bite. For the price, this delivers. You're not paying deli-counter-by-the-pound prices, but you're also getting a sandwich that could realistically be split into two meals if you have any restraint, which I did not. I've only been once, but the menu is deep: pierogi, cabbage rolls, borscht, a whole sausage case I didn't even get into. This was clearly a one-item scouting mission and it worked. Would come back, and next time I'm not leaving with just a sandwich.
