I had decently high expectations for Aster House with their 4.6 star rating on Google, but overall the experience was not good. I’d say the most apparent shortcoming was the apparent short staffing, which was unfortunate as there wasn’t anybody at the host stand, and there was another host stand outside that was easy to miss and unmanned when we arrived. The server inside also seemed to be spread pretty thin, and she was managing a lot of tables. Normally this isn’t a major issue, but I think because of this we had some items from our order be missing and then we were charged more than we should have been. Again, I’m thinking this was because the server was managing too many tables and tickets (short staffed). Also, for the price of the food and drinks they were overall mediocre in quality/flavor, and the fries were cold. The ambience also left a lot to be desired, it was incredibly dark inside and it seemed like they had some windows blocked off for a stage backdrop in the dining room, but there were no performers. The location of this restaurant is fabulous, but I think the positives end there.

We saw good ratings on Google and decided to have dinner and drinks here before the Bruno Mars concert. Everything about this place perfectly set the tone for the wonderful night ahead of us. Big wow factor with the gorgeous building when you walk up. You are greeted by a friendly and inviting host who truly knows how to make you feel welcome. It was a perfect, sunny, Wednesday evening so we sat on the rather large patio. It was packed for happy hour and the layout allowed you to feel like you're part of the larger energy around you, but able to still hear and enjoy an intimate conversation at your own table. The drinks are absolutely devine! We enjoyed the margarita, old fashioned and the lavender "Aster" 75 (pictured). They have a DJ on Wednesday nights with all the right vibes for happy hour. The food disappeared quickly! We had the Bourbon BBQ sandwich, Summer Salad with Salmon, and Steak Frites and finished with a luscious peach rhubarb crisp. The waitress was charming, funny, and made us feel like we were the only ones there even with a packed house. The entire staff was so attentive and fun and we even snapped a pic with some of them before we left. This will definitely be a regular spot for us! You absolutely must give them a try.

I have never in my life gave a zero tip on a bill. The service was so horrible, the only thing our server did was get us water, the host and bust boys were the ones to take our orders and serve us our food. The food also took so long to get to our table, most of it was cold. The food is nothing special and the quality does not match its price. My party was the only group of minorities and felt like that was the reason why we were given bad service. I do not recommend this restaurant honestly to anyone. I am so disappointed as me and my party had heard good things about this restaurant. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!

This atmosphere in this restaurant can't be beat! It's gorgeous and historic, gives a European vibe. My friends and I were celebrating a couple of our birthdays, the staff were so excited for us!
We started with the burrata appetizer...delicious! We had a burger, a bucatini pasta, and a wedge salad paired with steak. All were so good!
Parking is a challenge, but once you are there it is a great night out!

My friend and I spontaneously went to Aster House tonight for a girls night on the patio and had the best time thanks to the perfect atmosphere and the wonderful staff especially Evan and MJ who made sure our experience was a reason to come back and we will. Food, service and ambiance were a 10/10. We ended our night enjoying dessert by the fire! Happy to have found a new summer patio on the most enchanting street in Minneapolis!
