I went out with my best friend to Aster Cafe this past weekend. It was such a great experience and so different from the way a lot of restaurants operate these days. They have a great location and we’ve been there before, but they really know how to make customers feel welcome and the server we had was incredibly kind and always there when we needed something, but never rushed us. The food was great and the atmosphere was wonderful. What a lovely experience. Sometimes you go out to dinner and you feel like they just want to get you in and out of there and get a really big tip but that’s not the case with Aster Cafe that’s why they’re so busy. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Our server Zack was kind, treated us well and made us feel very welcome. Great server!
Thank you, Aster Café!!♥️

Came here for a date night and the patio did not disappoint. You're sitting on this pretty cobblestone street right on the river with the skyline across the water — honestly one of the best views in the city. We split the flatbread and the cucumber salad, both really fresh and light, and the cocktails were solid. Service was a touch slow when it got busy but the vibe more than made up for it. There was live music too. We'll be back, ideally before sunset next time.

Prime location on the river front with a busy patio and pleasant, more intimate interior. Understaffed for our visit, but what restaurant isn't these days? Avoided the beer taps after witnessing drinks delivered in standard pint glasses full to the tip-top with no head. A sad way to serve what was a decent selection of local brews. Coffee was good, water was kept topped-up, and sangria was a big hit - not just at out table, but across the whole patio. Food reviews were somewhat mixed, but generally favorable. The shrimp salad was nice, refreshing, well-dressed, but $18 felt a bit steep for five small shrimp and a plateful of greens. The mushroom flatbread was under-seasoned or even just unseasoned; very bland, inoffensive, not up to standard. Reports from our meat-eating diners were positive, though, and the portions certainly looked generous. Overall, Aster Cafe was good, not really great. I would try again, for sure.

I would say this place is a hidden gem, but it’s certainly not hidden! I’ve been passing this place while walking by the stone arch bridge for quite some time and the patio is always packed. I finally decided to stop in for a couple drinks and apps with a small group the other day. We got a couple tap brews and a couple of cocktails; all were great. Also tried the artichoke dip with homemade focaccia which was fantastic as well. Food and drinks aside, the thing that stood out to me the most was the atmosphere on the patio. Calmly taking in one of the best skylines in the U.S. to the tune of an older lad strumming a jazz box is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon in Minneapolis. I would especially recommend this as a spot for those who are new to or visiting Minneapolis for the first time and want to see what it’s all about!
