I was traveling solo on a business. Don Juan was right down the street from my hotel so I decided to check it out. I sat at the bar and had dinner and a few drinks. Watched sports on the TVs.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Lauren the bartender was very friendly and attentive. The next day I got off work late. Many restaurants were nearing closing time but Don Juan was open until 10. I decided to go there again. It was a Tuesday and they had 50% off on Fajitas. The bartender that night was Linda. Just as friendly and attentive as Lauren from the night before.
I highly recommend Don Juan if you have a taste for Mexican food.

I got carry out this evening with the 15% off special that was sent to my phone from the restaurant. The app & the Food was outstanding! We’ve also dined three times at the restaurant, and it’s been exceptional every time!

Wonderful place, the food is authentic and delicious. This place must be new to have so little traffic, so we got our food really fast. Their drinks are delicious and generous with the alcohol. Highly recommend the Guava Margarita. I should have gotten a larger glass! Server was professional and made excellent recommendations. This is a hidden gem that absolutely needs more discovery. I will make sure to go out of my way the next time I'm in Detroit.

Not a good experience at all. Went on a Friday night and there was live music. I've been to Mexican restaurants with live music before...you know, a mariachi band or similar. But at Don Juan, they thought it was a good idea to have a saxophone player who plays nothing but jazz and 80's soft rock. It was SO bizarre! I thought they were playing a joke on me...and it was loud. I couldn't talk to my family the whole meal because we couldn't hear each other. And it was BAD! It was like listening to a middle school band. Who wants to go to a Mexican restaurant and listen to yacht rock? I would like to know the thought process of the owner who thought this was a good idea. It's like going to an Italian restaurant and watching a banjo player. The service was fine and the food was bland, but the atmosphere was so annoying with that saxophone player. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants to go to where you can get an authentic Mexican vibe instead of whatever this was.
