  Scalawags always kills it!!! The food is always great. Tons of variety for fish and chips. I wish the bluegill was available right now, but I get it can be seasonal. Disappointed that they went back to fries from house cut potato wedges though. The whitefish chowder is amazing, a must try. The best fish and chips around!!!

  Absolutely delicious if you're in the mood for some of the best shrimp you've ever had in your life... You need to go here. The service is great the people are cool and I feel bad for them because the parking lots always empty. But I'm telling you that's why I went in there I felt bad. And I left so happy delicious food good customer service the shrimp come on some of the best

  My wife and I stopped here after she spotted the sign and recalled me talking about eating Scalawags in Traverse City growing up. We shared the whitefish and perch baskets. Both were delicious, and came with an excellent tarter sauce. It's still a great spot to fill your fried fish cravings, especially the whitefish and perch.

  My friend and I both ordered walleye and “fountain drink” ice water. My friend and I both enjoyed it. We both disliked how the skin was still on it and not de-boned/cleaned properly. We both, within 15/20 minutes had explosive “indigestion”!!!!!!!! Just saying. I never have that issue. Nor does she. But, it happened. This was at Petoskey location. We probably won’t be back. Could have been the coleslaw? Tartar sauce? Fountain lines not cleaned properly? At least we had a good visit!

  Friday night and from out of town. I've never been made to feel so bad in my life for coming in 45 min before closing (9pm on a friday!) Im Telling you it was 8:15 and The guy at the counter made us feel pretty shitty like they closed in 2 min. We got our food to go and we're out of there in 10 min. Worked in the service industry for a long time and I was taken a back because we were kind the whole time. The guy still got a tip cause we don't role like that. But the food sucked! Have been to other scalawags and the fish did not taste like this. It's like he made sure to give us the rotten shit. Didn't eat and threw it away. Edit- after the response I received from owner. I'm pretty sure you got it twisted. Everywhere said 9pm your employee even said "unfortunately I have no choice but to serve you because we don't close until 9pm." The lobby had people eating. We were made to feel like we were inconveniencing him. The attitude and verbiage he took with my son when he ordered his chicken basket with fries and Cole slaw. His face was nasty "you do realize it comes with fries and cole slaw." punching our order in on the register and putting our cups down...im sorry to say the dude was upset. And if you close at 8pm then change your hours where it is stated. Online says 9 the door said 9 and the man (not a kid) said 9. Unfortunately your employee was rude to us. We gave him over 20% tip in hopes it would change his mind on how he feels about serving people in the future, cause I'm sure not everybody would have been nice to him even after how he treated us.
