About

RestaurantBowling AlleyLive Music Venue
The Rec Bowl has been with the Fox family since the 1950s. The eight-lane bowling alley still gleams as one of the highlights of the business. Hosting countless parties and seasonal flocks of leagues, it remains masterfully maintained — proudly exhibiting its retro mechanics and character. The Rec Bowl provides open bowling for anyone to come in and enjoy. We also host bowling leagues. On top of the bowling, there are also other recreational games to play such as darts and pool that also have leagues available. If you are hungry we serve food at the bar and our indoor dining area. We also serve food and drinks to the largest outdoor patio in Mt Clemens that has seating available for our guests.

We started going to the Rec Bowl when we discovered one of our favorite Michigan musician performers, Dave Bennett, has several appearances during the year. Staff and Service has always been excellent at tables. Hamburgers are very good - simple, with some ridged chips and a few toppings. BBQ truck food seems so-so, although I understand the ribs are good. Gumbo and red beans/rice are overpriced for the quantity served, similar to what other venues might call a "side". My biggest complaint is regarding people who gather just outside the covered bar/table/stage area, smoking cigarettes, in the small patio area with about a half dozen tables and a few benches. This area is between the food truck serving counter and the inside bowling alley entrance. My understanding of Michigan health and food law in this regard is that anywhere food is being served cannot be a smoking area, even if outside (per Michigan's Smoke-Free Indoor Air Law (Public Act No. 188 of 2009, as amended). This uncovered eating area has the BBQ food truck prepping food and wait staff serving food and drink, all while patrons stand in the area smoking. There is a small walkway outside of the fenced eating area where smoking seems to be allowed. Still annoying to anyone sitting in the eating area smelling the smoke. This past week, anticipating a Dave Bennett show, we thought we had a table reservation for one of the low tables near the stage. This was needed because our friend, who sustained the loss of one leg in Vietnam, cannot sit at a high table, due to his prosthetic leg. Having called two weeks prior, using a credit card to reserve an appropriate table, we arrived to eat before the show, only to be told there was no reservation and no low table available. Once again, we were seated outside of the covered area, at an umbrella table (with no umbrellla) away from the stage, subject to a number of smokers throughout the evening. It appears that many of the patrons are regulars since we've seen some of the same people sitting at the same tables over the past three visits in a month's time. Perhaps they have standing reservations or get preference from the owners? Who knows.

Did not like the way over priced $10.00 cover charge, to see a band that i usually see at other bars for free or maybe just a $5.00 cover charge.

Food truck was awesome! Servers are fabulous, music was great. Food from the kitchen sucked … eat before you go or do the food truck

My and my friend's absolute favorite restaurant of all time. Amazing and filling meals, especially their burgers. They do lots of events though, so be sure to check the schedule if you're going there to grab a quick bite.
