Where do I even start.
My wife and I have been eating here for years, and we’ve always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, today’s experience completely changed our opinion of this place.
The food itself was still good, but the service was genuinely unacceptable. From the moment we sat down, there was an obvious attitude directed toward both of us, especially my wife. The entire interaction felt cold, disrespectful, and uncomfortable for absolutely no reason.
One example: when the waitress brought the check and a to-go box, she abruptly dropped the box on the table without saying a word. I politely said “thank you,” and she ignored me completely and walked away without even acknowledging us. The restaurant was not busy, so this wasn’t a stress or rush issue.
It honestly felt like being back in high school dealing with unnecessary attitude and disrespect. We came here expecting to enjoy a peaceful lunch, and instead the experience became so uncomfortable that I didn’t even finish my meal.
After over two years of supporting this restaurant, we will not be returning.
For management’s awareness, the receipt listed the waitress’s name as Madison.
Love coming to Amaya’s. It’s so good that I never want to try somewhere new when we come to Michigan from Ohio. Every time we go I get the mama’s tacos with tofu. As a vegetarian I appreciate that they have tofu and it’s soo good. Service is always good as well. The staff are friendly! My boyfriend and I enjoy this place very much.

I was genuinely impressed. The food was marvelous and truly lives up to the restaurant’s name, everything tasted incredibly fresh. The menu is simple, but the flavors are delicious and thoughtfully prepared.
The presentation of the food was impeccable, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. Even the chips stood out — they were light and airy with the perfect crisp crunch that made them hard to stop eating. And the salsa tasted unmistakably homemade. It was fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor, tasting like real ingredients instead of something processed.
You can really tell they care about quality and freshness here. If you enjoy fresh Mexican food made with care, this place is definitely worth visiting.

Amaya's is the primary date spot for my spouse and I. We always enjoy our lunches here, and take every opportunity to visit.
You are given chips and salsa first thing after taking your seat, with a choice of mild, medium, and hot salsas. The chips are served warm and taste lovely with the medium salsa.
The waitstaff are attentive and congenial, and always fun to talk with.
My spouse makes a point of trying new menu items periodically, having thoroughly enjoyed all of his choices so far. I always put in an order for their Texas Burger. A large patty between toasted buns with onion straws, lettuce, and light mustard combine for a wonderful flavor profile, and my favorite burger in Monroe!

Good sized portions, though the taco are small. Burritos and quesadilla were good sized and tasted great. Went there early afternoon and they were not busy.
