DISCRIMINATION AND RACIST TREATMENT BY MANAGEMENT
I am writing this to expose an deeply disturbing and discriminatory incident at the Jackson, Michigan Outback Steakhouse location involving the manager, Emily. After placing an order for steak, lobster, and wings, I discovered food was missing. When I contacted support and the location, Emily questioned me aggressively with the clear intent of shifting blame. She claimed she "knew for a fact" the order was correct, which was impossible because she did not even work the day the order was placed. Despite me providing the correct order number, she remained completely biased and flatly refused to fix or remake my order.Suspecting there was more to her refusal, my coworker (a white female) went to the location the following day to see how she would be treated. Emily immediately told her that she would remake the order for her. When I walked in shortly after and confronted Emily, asking why I was denied the exact same resolution when I called, she refused to answer and walked away.As she walked away, both my coworker and I clearly overheard Emily tell a waiter, "Well, if she didn't call sounding ghetto, I would have done the same."This goes far beyond standard bad customer service. This is overt racism, profiling, and corporate discrimination. To be humiliated and denied service based on biased assumptions about how I speak is unacceptable. We have documented this incident and will be taking formal legal and corporate action. This location allows racist behavior at the managerial level, and consumers need to be aware.
