I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at this McDonald’s on Monday morning around 8:56 a.m.
A coworker and I went through the drive-thru and ordered two meals along with two large coffees. The drive-thru employee did not seem to hear our order correctly, even after we repeated it twice. We paid for our food and were not given a receipt, but we decided not to make an issue of that.
When we reached the next window, the young lady handed us our coffees. She gave us one small and one large. We politely explained that we had ordered two large coffees. Instead of simply correcting the order or checking with us, she rolled her eyes and argued that we had ordered one small and one large.
She then waved her hands toward us as if she did not want to be bothered and told her manager, “Deal with this because I don’t have time.” The manager then came over and also insisted that we had ordered one small and one large. We explained again that we had not. The manager eventually said, “Well, oh well, I’ll give y’all a large, but next time communicate that.”
The entire interaction was unnecessary and extremely unprofessional. We were polite throughout the situation and were simply trying to receive what we had ordered and paid for. There was no reason for us to be met with eye-rolling, dismissive gestures, arguing, or an attitude as though we were inconveniencing the employees.
Mistakes happen, especially during a busy morning, and we understand that. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled made us feel disrespected as customers.
I will be contacting corporate regarding this experience because I believe this location needs to address its customer service standards and provide additional training on professionalism, communication, and how customers should be treated.
I hope management takes this complaint seriously and uses it as an opportunity to improve the customer experience. Customers should not leave feeling disrespected simply because they politely pointed out an issue with their order.
