Barrio Taco
We stopped at Barrio Taco for lunch on our way from Chicago to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, using it as our midpoint break on a long drive. And honestly, it did the job.
The food was okay. I have definitely had better tacos, so this was not exactly a “write home about it” meal, but for a college town and a convenient stop along the road, it was perfectly decent. They have a good selection of tacos and plenty of choices, although figuring out exactly what to order can feel like a small decision-making exercise. Tacos? Bowl? Which fillings? Which toppings? Suddenly lunch requires a strategy meeting!
They also seemed to have a pretty good selection of beers and cocktails, which added to the upbeat atmosphere. The space itself is large and lively, with a fun, happy energy that works well for a casual meal.
Cleanliness, however, could use some attention. The floor was noticeably sticky, which is never quite the ambiance anyone is hoping for with lunch.
Overall, Barrio Taco is a good casual stop, especially if you are passing through the area or looking for a lively place with lots of choices. The food was fine, the atmosphere was fun, and it was a convenient place to break up a long road trip. Not a destination meal for me, but definitely an acceptable pit stop.
