  Always a good time here. Reminds you of home cooking and service rendered by a family member...slow and intentional. Your food is always served with a smile. And the desserts particularly the strawberry cake simply delicious 😋

  This place was Great the Customer service especially was very professional and polite, The food was Great I had the Meat loaf dinner with Mac and Yams, The atmosphere was beautiful, soul jazz music was played very clean place beautiful but simple decor inside i would most definitely return.

  Just recently visited this place and honestly, the atmosphere is clean and inviting. The service was exceptional but the food was overpriced. I wanted smothered pork chops but they were out so I settled for fried. I expected a nice sized chop that was golden brown but these were small and dried out. I believe they were cooked just a little too long with no seasoning to taste. The Mac and cheese was pretty good ( could use some seasoning) and the greens were good but the dressing was pretty much flavorless. There was really not enough food overall for the price. Now, the peach cobbler was ok to the taste but the consistency was so runny that I could’ve literally drank it from the small bowl it came in. To charge $8.50 for that small, runny portion is ridiculous. Love the atmosphere and service, not too happy about the food and pricing.

  On a drizzly Friday afternoon about 2 p.m., I wandered in. I was nearly alone but, considering the time..... The place is well-lit, clean and welcoming. And relaxing. I love the ceiling, the exposed ductwork and electric runs. The staff was very friendly. But there was an apparent disconnect. I was eating in but they made it all to go. Kind of weird eating at the counter out of styrofoam with plastic utensils. I ordered the perch lunch with collard greens as my side (comes with a cornbread muffin, too). The fish was amazing! Light, flaky, tasty. Collard greens were among the best I've ever had. The muffin was missing, having been replaced by two pieces of whole wheat bread. Disappointing. For under $13 I got all that. Half what seemingly every other soul food restaurant charges. In fact, the others charge for lunch what Detroit Soul charges for dinner. Got to say: They could use better signage. I've driven by numerous times and never seen the place. They're doing the food right, though, or they wouldn't still be here 11 years later.
