  I had a bad experience trying to purchase groceries and some alcohol today. I went through self check out because they only have 2 cash registers open on a busy summer Saturday. After I had scanned over half my groceries, the assistant came over to check my id to clear the alcohol. I had my id on me, but my wife didn’t have hers. The employee then said she couldn’t sell us the alcohol because not everyone in the group had id. We’re in our late 30s and early 40s and neither of us looks younger than 27. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that state law requires them to id everyone in the group and decline sales if anyone does not have id proving that they are over 21, and this doesn’t matter if it’s an 80 year old or otherwise. I was honestly very frustrated by this having already scanned most of my order. It’s over an hour of my day wasted. I checked, and it’s not state law. It’s store policy. I called back to check if they were aware that their policy goes above and beyond the requirements of the state - this is how annoyed I was - but the manager didn’t change his story or apologize. I’m honestly pretty irritated by this lack of politeness and courtesy towards regular customers. Sorry Hannaford, I’ll vote with my dollars and buy my groceries across the street after today.

  Hannaford To-Go employees, do better! Thank you for giving me cracked eggs. Not only that, on NUMEROUS other orders they have labeled things as being out of stock, but when I go in to the same store two hours later they have the exact things I wanted. Normally, I go in and get my groceries myself, but working 12-hour days, dealing with the grocery store in Windham is the last thing on my mind. Please do better! I have worked as a To-Go associate in the past and it’s not difficult.

  I usually go to Hannaford in Standish but I was in Windham and figured I would run in and grab a few things. I have never had anyone as rude as the girl who bagged my stuff. I had a shaws bag and she had no problem using it. When it came to the Salvation Army bag she said she was boycotting that bag. She was rude even after I said I worked there. I will never step foot in that store again!

  Shelve empty,( looks like they cant pay the rent). Expensive, lots of emplyees standing around, and none of the shelves faced or blocked.
