- TBTheodore BAug 8, 20263.0I really wanted to love this place. The concept is great. Execution is lacking ,but just a bit. The mac and cheese is an embarrassment . Its like they cooked the noodles and made a bechamel and added some pepper then called it a day. Needs cheese and seasoning. The coleslaw was ok but it too needs a bit more seasoning. With that being said the meat was very good. The ribs are firm enough to bite but soft enough to rip out the bone. With a goid flavor without sauce. Could use a but more seasoning but are good as is. Brisket was good. Really tender. It was late in the day so it was a bit dry but that is to be expected at 6pm on a Saturday. The sauce served on the side is ok. The Carolina sauce is the winner of the 3 because the other 2 are not good to say the least. Pizza was OK but for a BBQ place in MD it is very well done. The kings Hawaiian is a lazy touch but next time I will try their biscuit. The ice-cream is quiet goid in its simplicity. Good vanilla flavor and perfect consistency. With an upgrade to the Mac and maybe a switch to sweet baby rays bbq sauce to replace their regular sauce and this might be a stop worth the drive. But come on, a little mustard powder, some white pepper, some paprika, some onion powder, and some sharp cheddar would fix the mac a bit. A little salt on the slaw. And I don't add salt to a lot. This could be a gem with a few tweaks. Really nice side patio and ordering is easy. No cash. The staff is wonderful and quite nice. It's also pretty hot inside even with ac. I'll be back to try again and hopefully they will have addressed a few of the issues. Once again great staff. The young man behind the counter was a joy on Saturday 8/8/26 6pm. Didn't catch his name but he is a great person to have up front. Oh and I'd switch the green peppers for red and yellow on the brisket pizza.
