Cashier was fine, but whoever was making the smoothies needs additional training. Unbelievably slow, and no ability whatsoever to mutil-task. Could not keep up, and started giving out smoothie in the wrong order. Do better.

I stopped by the Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Oxon Hill and had a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the service was quick.

Absolutely disgusting customer service experience at Tropical Smoothie Cafe on Oxon Hill Road.
I repeatedly stated AT LEAST 3 TO 5 TIMES that I did NOT want coconut on my acai bowl because both my daughter and I are allergic. The employee listed on my receipt as Carmen P — who claimed to be the manager — still served the bowl covered in coconut.
Then came the attitude.
Instead of apologizing professionally, Carmen became argumentative, dismissive, rude, rolled her eyes repeatedly, exchanged looks and smirks with coworkers, and acted as though I was somehow bothering HER because I expected my allergy instructions to be followed correctly.
Once someone ignores repeated allergy instructions and then responds with hostility instead of concern, trust is gone. I no longer wanted a remake and requested a refund.
She refused.
She then claimed the store has a “no refund policy,” yet there is absolutely NO signage posted anywhere informing customers of this alleged policy.
So let me get this straight:
Your staff can incorrectly prepare an allergy-sensitive order, management can behave disrespectfully afterward, and customers are simply stuck paying for it?
Completely unacceptable.
What makes this worse is that my daughter was simply trying to treat me for an early Mother’s Day outing. Instead, the experience became embarrassing, hostile, and unnecessarily confrontational because of Carmen’s behavior.
Ironically, after refusing the refund, she offered me a coupon for another acai bowl at another location on another day. By then the experience was already ruined. I should not have to leave upset and go somewhere else because this location failed to make a simple order correctly.
My family and I are longtime Tropical Smoothie customers and rewards members, which makes this experience even more disappointing.
I will NEVER return to this location again.
I placed an order via the app for a smoothie and came in at the time it said it would be ready. An employee looked around for my order but never communicated there was an issue. She spoke with another employee about not being able to locate my order; however, they never told me, I overheard them speaking. After a few minutes and no further acknowledgement from staff, I walked over to the register to request a refund. That is when they told me they don't provide refunds and that they never received my order. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, the employee said you can talk to him, pointing at a man walking into the store. I showed him order confirmation, and in seconds, he found my smoothie, just sitting there. He then informed me that when I submit an order via the app, I'm responsible for getting my order off a random cart on the side of the register. I told him that he should tell his employees that, not me. On top of that, the smoothie was watery and melted by the time I received it. Again, no apology was provided and my concerns were never acknowledged. The lack of customer service and knowledge is unacceptable. Never coming back here!
