- BHBen HillsOct 2, 20261.0I intentionally took a drive with my pups to Chick-fil-A because one of the things we’ve come to enjoy is getting them pup cups while I grab something for myself. When I arrived, the person taking my order was very kind. I asked for a couple of pup cups, and she explained that this location no longer offers them. That surprised me because I’ve received them at other Chick-fil-A locations, including fairly recently. She explained that individual Chick-fil-A locations can be different and that this location stopped offering pup cups because the whipped cream had become too expensive. She kindly offered Milk-Bones instead. I asked if I could simply pay for the pup cups so cost wouldn’t be an issue, but was told they weren’t allowed to sell them. When I pulled around to get my order, I spoke with the team lead, who was also very nice and confirmed the same thing. He explained that operators have discretion over whether to offer pup cups and that this operator had decided not to because of the expense. Again, I asked if I could just pay for them. Apparently, there is no way to purchase a small cup of whipped cream. That’s ultimately why I’m leaving the one-star review. It’s not a reflection of the employees I interacted with — both were friendly and professional. It’s about the decision itself. One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Chick-fil-A is its remarkable consistency. It’s a big part of why I’m a loyal customer. In this case, I specifically chose Chick-fil-A because of an experience I’ve consistently had with my pups, only to learn that this operator eliminated it because of cost without even providing customers the option to pay for it. The Milk-Bones were a thoughtful alternative and may work great for other pups, but mine weren’t interested, and unfortunately they ended up in the trash. I realize pup cups are a very small thing in the grand scheme of things. But sometimes small things are exactly what create loyalty and differentiate a brand. Removing something over the cost of a little whipped cream — while not even allowing a customer to pay for it — feels unnecessarily shortsighted. I’ll absolutely continue visiting Chick-fil-A. I’ll just choose other locations when my pups are along for the ride. I also hope Chick-fil-A corporate is thoughtful about how much discretion individual operators have over experiences customers have come to associate with the brand. Consistency matters, and Chick-fil-A has built an incredible reputation around it. I’d hate to see small decisions like this gradually chip away at that. And judging by the looks I got from the back seat, my pups would agree. 🙂
