  Ive been coming to smokys since its been the canopy for about 40 years. Somehow their food is consistently fantastic! I love their pit beef and boardwalk style fries. They have kept their prices very reasonable as well. The half chicken is delicious too. I hear their desserts are good but always too full to try them!

  My Wife and I are older seniors in our 70's, have lived in Sykesville for 40 years, and have been a regular at Smoky's during all of that time, we always had a great experience going there when the former owners and their son worked there along with the current owner Steve, we continued to enjoy going there for many years after Steve took over the business and enjoyed being greeted by friendly Ross the meat carver when ordering, we even used to take my elderly Mom there who always chose going there over anywhere else, but the Wife and I stopped going there completely several months ago for several reasons one being the increased higher costs of the food with us both never getting a practical meal in a non table server restaurant for less than $35 that we totally enjoyed without having any issues, we weren't happy with what seemed like a skimpier amount of meat on the sandwiches along with the oddball football shaped kaiser roll which started at some point or the open face sandwich served with a smaller sized portion of mashed potatoes, but the WORST thing is the quality of their hand cut ocean fries which are now inedible because after the last 6-8 times of ordering them they are too short being cut from a much smaller brand of local potatoes, have nasty black burnt ends, and come out soggy and oil saturated being nowhere near the long perfectly cooked firm dry and crispy ones that we remember from the past so we ended up throwing them out in the trash EVERY time, we even thought that maybe it was because of the time of day that we went there but after experimenting during the busiest of lunch/dinner hours or at mid day it made no difference whatsoever because they always came out exactly the same, we believe that it's because of the big unfriendly goofy guy who is making the fries every time that we are there, the owner should randomly check some products for employee quality control because I know that it's got to be an issue for many others and hopefully someone else has observed this and taken the time to likewise complain?
