  I visited the Safeway in Damascus, Maryland, to return a package of cheese that had been sold to me even though it had expired eightdays earlier. I did not have my paper receipt, so I asked the customer service associate, Rana, if she could look up my purchase. She told me she could not and implied that I may have bought the cheese a month ago, which I found disrespectful and unnecessary. She then said she would check whether the store even carried the item and offered to exchange it. While she was away, I downloaded the Safeway app and found my digital receipt, which clearly showed the purchase. When she returned, I explained that I preferred a refund rather than an exchange. Once I showed her the receipt in the app, she processed the refund without any issue. My concern is that I had to find the receipt myself through the app before I received assistance. I would have appreciated being informed that digital receipts were available or being offered that option from the beginning. More importantly, I felt that the interaction lacked courtesy and professionalism. I hope additional customer service training can help ensure customers are treated respectfully, especially when they are returning expired food sold by the store.

  Subject: Formal complaint regarding spoiled product and failure in quality control ​To Whom It May Concern, ​I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding a product I recently purchased at one of your stores. I bought a ham that, upon opening, was in an obvious state of decomposition: it had a greenish color, an extremely foul odor, and a very slimy texture. ​It is completely unacceptable for a supermarket chain with Safeway's reputation to sell products in such poor condition, posing a serious risk to consumer health. Although I have already returned to the store, filed a local complaint, and received a refund, I believe the experience was utterly disgusting and reflects a severe lack of supervision and quality control on the sales floor. ​I demand that this report be forwarded to the quality management department and the store management of that specific location to immediately review food handling, expiration dates, and refrigeration protocols. As customers, we deserve fresh and safe products. ​Sincerely, LUIS....

  The Manager, Ezekiel, is very calm,nice,and professional. He didn't rush me, and I was the last in the store five min after closing. Thank you for your patience. He's always ready to help me when I need to take items off. Which can b stressful.
