Silo Falls is a chic, rustic-style venue in Brookeville, MD. The dairy farm turned restaurant, bar and venue has become the beloved meeting grounds for locals, event-goers and travelers from across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Today was my first visit in over a year with five other guests. I ordered a carry out order of fish and chips for my husband.
For $26 I received a meal consisting of four pieces of institutional grade premade frozen fish fillets, fries and a red and white cabbage blend of coleslaw that had turned grey and had a sour taste to it due to it’s age was not edible.
I fully understand the operating challenges in terms of product costs running a F & B operation in today’s world, but that meal was totally unacceptable.

I’ve eaten here twice, and the food has been decent but not great. Last time, I ordered the ribeye steak, and that was a mistake. The steak looked like it was below choice-grade beef, and it was covered in a sauce that wasn’t mentioned on the menu, it felt like the sauce was there to mask the quality of the meat. To make matters worse, the knife they gave me couldn’t even cut through it. I probably won’t come back for the food.
The service is good, and so are the drinks, but I question the quality of the food.

Recently went to Silo Falls for a wedding reception. Beautiful area and for the most part a very nice venue in a back room of the establishment. That room was lovely. Two areas kind of grossed me out. The bathroom and the doors to the outside patio. One of the bathroom stalls was out of order. And with a large reception and full Saturday night bar, it was very inconvenient. It broke early in the evening and no other area for the women's bathroom was advertised as being available if patrons needed more facility rooms..
Then the doors to the patio were disgusting filthy. I didn't even want to touch the door to walk outside when I arrived early in the late afternoon.
You would think with the amount of guests coming, that a quick wipe down of those white (not so much) patio doors would be on list of things to do. It was very visible and I heard 2 other people remark about it.
And to be honest, the food was kind of blah. Nothing special with the flavor.

Our lunch today at Silo Falls was delightful. Our server, Emmanuel (sp?) made our time there truly outstanding. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful. He went above and beyond. The salads were delicious and the cake was delectable- made by on onsite pastry chef. The atmosphere was conducive to a good experience, the outside seating abundant and inviting.

Saddest Avocado Toast I ever met!
Took my parents to Silo Falls for their 60th Anniversary brunch. Can’t believe how far this place has come down in quality. My husband and I ordered Avocado toast which is the easiest thing to make. We got a white bread with a smear of brown Avocado prettied up with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. We finally had to settle on the fact that we were blessed to be sitting outside and just enjoying some family time. Definitely not worth the price and most definitely not where I’d go again for food.
