  The manger is very rude and nasty. Id steer clear of this location. She seemed really upset that she was stuck on the register because they only had one actual cashier working.

  Love this store but for the love of God, let these people go home at 10 PM on off-season. There is no reason the store needs to be open until 11 o’clock. It just makes me feel bad out there hopefully something for management to consider aside from that It’s a perfect store.

  The grocery stores on the Delmarva peninsula are somehow not quite on par with the ones we have in Southeastern Pennsylvania. I'm not exactly sure what's missing, by comparison (possibly the ones I'm used to are larger and have more variety), so maybe I'm not giving a high enough rating. However, 4 stars seems about right.

  My partner and I are from Virginia and frequent Food Lion stores regularly, so while visiting my grandmother in Berlin, Maryland, we stopped at this location expecting the same level of service and selection we are accustomed to. Unfortunately, this visit was a major disappointment. We were looking for wine to use with dinner and couldn’t find any, so my partner politely asked an employee working the register whether this location sold wine. The employee’s response was honestly bizarre. She acted as though my partner had asked her about an illicit substance and repeatedly questioned, “Wine? Like drinking wine?” My partner said yes, and the employee continued saying it loudly enough to draw attention to the interaction. She eventually told us, “No, we don’t sell that here.” The entire exchange was unnecessarily dramatic and made a simple question feel like we were asking something inappropriate. We regularly shop at Food Lion in Virginia, where wine is readily available, so we certainly weren’t expecting that kind of reaction. The checkout experience didn’t get much better. My partner placed our items on the belt, and some of them were sitting inside a disposable roasting pan we had picked up. The cashier asked whether she wanted to “keep the items in the pan.” My partner was understandably confused because we had never suggested that we wanted to skip having our groceries properly bagged. The cashier then suggested that we simply forgo the bagging process and leave our groceries in the disposable pan. At that point, I honestly felt like I was being asked to train the cashier on how a normal checkout process works. The overall condition and selection of the store also left a lot to be desired. The produce section looked tired and unappealing, and the meat selection was extremely limited. We were looking for a roast and were only able to find one option to choose from. The vegetables looked as though they had been sitting through a very long journey before making it onto the shelves. I understand that every location is different, but as people who regularly shop at Food Lion, we were very surprised by this experience. Between the strange interaction over a basic question about wine, the confusing checkout experience, and the lackluster meat and produce sections, this location did not leave a good impression. Hopefully management will take a closer look at the customer service, employee training, and overall condition of this store. We expected the Food Lion experience we know from Virginia and unfortunately did not get it here.
