  I walked by here with my husband and have heard all the rave about this place and when I scanned the menu the waitress or employee from on the inside of the store snatched it inside quickly like she didnt want me to place an order lmao it felt racially motivated which is disappointing considering you guys sell literal soul food but okay! wont be returning back here

  Another one lost to profit driven maximization. I literally asked the waitress if I was missing anything. $20+ plate barely much bigger than my coffee cup and the weakest service of brisket I’ve ever seen, maybe $1 of thinly sliced, previously frozen beef. Service was subpar, I asked if the shuttle bus ran on sundays, she said I could ask the hostess that. Lol

  Been going for years. They usually have the bar area open for people who are dining alone or don’t want to wait for a table. For whatever reason they have decided to not do that, and the bar is only for drinks. Huh? So not only did I have to wait for a table, but when I got one I was sat in the most secluded, back part of the restaurant near the restrooms. The seats were torn and dirty, and it was a booth. I HATE booths. Couldn’t look outside, couldn’t see if it was raining. Just isolated from everyone else with only my thoughts. This whole visit gave me the ick, regardless of the food. I got just enough to quiet my stomach and skidaddled out of there. I’m not driving all the way to Annapolis again if this is the new way of doing things. What a waste of my time.

  Arrived early so outside seating was plentiful. Ordered a hot tea and chicken ceasar wrap. Little to no ceasar flavor at all and chicken was wayyy overdone and inedible. Couldn’t chew it. Hostess asked how things were and I told her chicken was really tough and dry. She said “I’ll tell the chef” and that was that. I ended up eating the lettuce and tomato out of the wrap and a few pieces of the fruit. And for that I paid $27 plus tip. They should have at least taken half off the bill. I did not make a big deal about it but NEVER again!

  Miss Shirley’s has some of the best customer service I’ve experienced lately—the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout the meal. The pancakes were the absolute star of the show and worth the trip alone. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal fell short. Both the chicken in the chicken and waffles and the hot honey chicken deviled eggs were significantly overcooked and dry. It was very disappointing given the reputation, but I’d definitely return just to stick to the pancake menu.
