I had a very disappointing experience at this Chipotle today afternoon. I ordered two bowls online because I wanted a quick pickup. When I arrived, one of the employees, a girl wearing glasses, handed me my order in a very small paper bag. The two bowls were heavy, and the bag was clearly not strong enough to hold them.
As soon as I walked outside to my car, the bottom of the paper bag completely tore open. Both bowls fell upside down, and my food was ruined. When I looked at the bag, I noticed the bottom was already wet, which is probably why it ripped. This happened because of the way my order was packed, not because of anything I did.
I went back into the store expecting someone to at least ask what happened or apologize. Instead, no one showed any concern. I had to show them the torn bag myself, and all they did was hand me another bag with handles. There was no apology, no empathy, and no acknowledgment that my food had just fallen because of their packaging.
The employee who originally handed me my order, the girl with glasses, didn't say "sorry" or anything at all. She just looked at me in a way that made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome before walking away. As someone visiting the USA, this experience left me feeling disrespected. I can't know what she intended, but the interaction made me feel unwelcome, and it was upsetting.
Good customer service isn't just about handing someone their food. It's about taking responsibility when something goes wrong. A simple apology and some kindness would have made a huge difference. Instead, I left with ruined food and an even worse impression because of how I was treated.
I hope Chipotle takes this feedback seriously, improves the quality of its packaging, and trains employees to treat every customer with respect and professionalism. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had, and I expected much better from a company like Chipotle.
