  Poorly managed store. The ongoing issues here point to a lack of proper management oversight. I’ve repeatedly found expired produce and bakery items on the shelves, which is concerning. Checkout is also a consistent problem, there are often only 1–2 registers open (sometimes none) leading to longer waits. Even during peak hours, the store isn’t particularly busy, yet staffing at checkout remains limited. The “low price” stickers are misleading as well, often showing the same regular price with no real discount. Meat and chicken prices also stand out as significantly higher than other grocery stores in the area. Overall, there are much better grocery options nearby.

  Cleaner restrooms than most Stop & Shops including my "regular" Stop & Shop in Malden (which is undergoing renovations at the moment..) & prices were well below my expectations (cheaper than most places!) If the Malden Stop & Shop is ANYTHING like what I saw here in Somerville, then the renovations would so be WORTH the wait! 😁

  5 stars for the people. 0 stars for the produce. I've been going to this stop and shop for years. It never had the best produce, but it was alright. The last couple of years however, the produce seems to have gotten worse. I know for a fact the last several times I've gone all my oranges have been bad or simply old. The other produce wasn't inedible, but it wasn't nearly as good as Market Basket, Wegmans, or even Aldi's. We all know Market Basket has the best produce. So maybe it's not a fair comparison, but Stop and Shop needs to up their fruit and veggies game. I actively avoid going here even though it's the closest grocery store to me by quite a distance. The people here are always great, however. I've never had a problem with them in the 17 years I've gone here.
