- YLYan LinJul 22, 20261.0This morning, my son and I stopped by this Dunkin' to buy breakfast and coffee for his teacher. Since we had a fairly large order, I politely asked an employee, Dottie, for a bag. She impatiently handed me a paper bag. Because our order was too large and heavy, I politely asked if I could have a plastic bag instead. She gave me a plastic bag, but quietly said, "You got what you wanted. Now leave and stop bothering me." I was shocked by her rude and dismissive attitude, especially since it all took place in front of my young son. This was not the first time we had been treated this way by the staff here. I also noticed that while they were friendly and patient with white customers, they were noticeably rude and impatient with us. Although I cannot know her true thoughts, this recurring differential treatment made me wonder if it had to do with our race. The most heartbreaking part was my son's reaction. After we left, he asked me, "Why was she so nice to the white customers but so rude to us? Is it because we're Asian?" After getting home, I looked through the reviews for this location and found that other Asian customers had described similar experiences. I hope management takes this seriously and ensures that every customer is treated with the same respect and courtesy, regardless of race or background.

She is six months pregnant and Asian, and this morning she was treated in a way that made her feel unwelcome and singled out by one of the employees. What is especially upsetting is that this was not the first time she had experienced this with the same employee. She noticed that the employee was friendly and courteous to other customers, yet noticeably different toward her. While we cannot know the employee’s intentions, the repeated difference in treatment has left her genuinely concerned that her race may have played a role. No customer should leave feeling disrespected or excluded, especially a pregnant woman who simply came in to buy coffee. Everyone deserves to be treated with the same courtesy and respect, regardless of their race or background. I sincerely hope management takes this concern seriously, reviews the situation, and ensures that every customer is treated fairly and with dignity.
