  Definitely will be back - from the hostess, to the waiter and waitress, everyone was so pleasant & attentive. The Mango Lassi was absolutely delish. Refreshing and very tasty. We had butter chicken with white rice and butter naan. 10/10 - I had it mild this time to enjoy the flavours but will definitely try extra spice next time. The samosas were perfectly seasoned and stuffed to perfection. Loved it all~

  We visited this restaurant on 05/10 and ordered Half Chicken Tandoori, Afgani Chicken, Rumali Roti, Garlic Naan, Chicken Chettinad, Munna Bhai Chicken Fry Piece Biryani, and Boneless Chicken Biryani. Starting with the Half Chicken Tandoori, we were disappointed because it only came with leg pieces, and we honestly didn’t like the taste at all. When we asked the server about it, she just smiled and said it always comes like that. The Afgani Chicken was average and nothing special. On the positive side, the Rumali Roti, Garlic Naan, and Chicken Chettinad were really good and were the best part of our meal. We also ordered the Munna Bhai Chicken Fry Piece Biryani, but it was below average. The rice was very hard, and the taste was disappointing. Another issue was that our Boneless Chicken Biryani never arrived. After we asked about it, another staff member checked and told us that the server had forgotten to place the order. He said it would take another 10 minutes if we wanted it then, but by that point we had already lost interest because of the overall experience and taste. The only positive thing was that the prices are affordable, but the food quality and service definitely needs an improvement.

  Authentic, flavorful & delicious Indian dishes made fresh to satisfy any cravings you may have . I have eaten at many Indian restaurants and feel that this establishment overall, Is the most impressive. Your server always asks what spice level you would like your dish to be. If you don’t like spicy, I would suggest saying mild or no spice at all. I was reading some reviews saying the food is spicy. The food is not spicy if you communicate clearly to your server that you don’t want any spice added to your meal, as they take your order. 1947 is the best Indian restaurant in Norwood that offers quality dishes. Try it out, you will not be disappointed!

  Love Indian food, but it’s a problem when the customer cannot customize their order they’re paying for, especially the spice level. I requested no spice/mild and was informed by the server that it was “okay” and “all set”. Food looked great! Unfortunately, the customer’s request was not honored; the food was 🌶️spicy🌶️ which did not make it enjoyable and couldn’t finish it.🥵 Will not be returning and do not recommend for those that prefer mild flavor profiles.

  I’ve been a regular customer here and usually love the taste of the food, which is why I keep coming back. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I specifically requested less masala and more rice, and I even called the restaurant to make sure this was clearly understood. Despite that, the order arrived with excessive masala and was very spicy—completely opposite of what I asked for. While the manager did offer a refund or a replacement, the issue here is not about compensation. It’s about consistently following customer instructions, especially when they are clearly communicated multiple times. I value the quality of your food, but attention to customer preferences and service consistency is just as important. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and improvements are made.
