  I’ve been sitting with this review for the past four months because I genuinely wanted to give myself time to decide whether my experience was simply an off night or something worth mentioning. I ultimately decided to share it because the interaction bothered me well beyond the evening itself… not because I expected perfection, but because I believe customers should be given clear and consistent information about what is and isn’t available. I came to PiBon in Holbrook to celebrate Haitian Mother’s Day. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and it’s a nice place to have a drink while listening to Haitian music and spending time with friends. Unfortunately, my dining experience was disappointing. I came specifically for the poisson gros sel. When I ordered, I was told the kitchen was too busy and that they were only serving fried fish because they do not prepare poisson gros sel on Sundays. Wanting to be flexible, I changed my order and ordered something else. Later during our meal, another table seated nearby was served the exact poisson gros sel I had been told was unavailable. When I asked about it, I received several different explanations, including that the guests had spoken with a manager and that the kitchen was closed. Eventually, I was told the dish was available after all, but only in large pieces. The issue wasn’t that the dish was unavailable. The issue was the inconsistency and lack of transparency. Had I been told from the beginning that the dish could be made with manager approval or was only available in certain portions, I would have understood. Instead, I spent most of the meal believing it was impossible to order while watching another table receive it. The food was average, but the service was frustrating. Being told one thing and then seeing the exact opposite happen at another table left a poor impression and overshadowed what should have been a celebratory evening.

  The food is good, and the staff are generally friendly, which is honestly the main reason I continue to order from here from time to time. However, the restaurant has serious issues with takeout timing, communication, and customer service. Last week, I placed a takeout order an hour before arriving. Knowing their usual delays, I specifically asked whether my food was ready before paying because I had other things to do and couldn’t afford a long wait. I was told the food was ready, so I paid. About 20 minutes later, I was informed that the food was actually not ready. When I asked for an estimated wait time, I was told 15–20 minutes. After waiting 40 more minutes, I asked for another update. In total, I waited 1 hour and 13 minutes after arriving before receiving my food. As I was leaving, I realized some of the drinks I had ordered were missing. After another 10-minute wait, I asked for a refund on the drinks because the situation had become unreasonable. My brother eventually went back inside to get them. The drinks arrived 34 minutes later. Altogether, I waited 1 hour and 47 minutes at the restaurant, despite having placed my order an hour before I arrived. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again today. I placed an order at 3:00 PM and was told over the phone that it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived around 4:10 PM, paid, and asked for my order. Once again, I ended up waiting about 30 minutes because of what staff described as a miscommunication in the kitchen. To be clear, the food is good and the staff are pleasant. The problem is the lack of organization, communication, and customer service. Management needs to address these recurring issues and provide better training for staff. Long waits can happen, but repeatedly giving inaccurate information about order status and wait times creates a frustrating customer experience. I’ve visited many Haitian restaurants, and customer service is often an area that needs improvement. I was hoping this restaurant would be different.

  Not the best Haitian resto in terms of food quality. I have tested the resto and order black rice and haitian griot[combo pork skin and other fries veggies], pork skin was well seasoned and cooked, plantain was too dried, Accra which is what disappoint me most was a sponge of oil not Accra, marinade was the same, a sponge of oil. These last two are supposed to be crispy and light. I think they spend too much time in the oil when cooking and it totally messed up the cooking. I couldn't eat them

  liste, this is one of my favorite haitian food spot in the state so it breaks my heart to not give them a 5 star. But i’ve been seeing their videos about the pate kode and i’ve been so excited to try it because it’s so rare to find pate kode around here but i gotta say i was disappointed. I made sure to ask for extra crispy and it was not extra crispy, it was gigantic in size but not really at the same time, the pate was essentially filled with air. I’m confused on why they don’t poke holes on them like one usually do? poking the holes eliminates all that air it’s filled with, it will allow it to get crispy, the inside felt so soupy where it was dripping. The pate felt so doughy just straight up fried dough. The pate kode here has so much potentials and poking it while it’s frying might be a game changer. Hoping next time i order it’s actually pate kode.
