This was our first time eating at Ssaanjh Indian and we had a wonderful meal. Manju, the owner,/host, and her staff were very nice and very attentive. We asked for some recommendations and Manju's suggestions were spot on. The food was excellent. I am more of a beer guy, but at this restaurant I had cocktails and they were great. We were a party of seven and everyone had positive things to say about their meal. We will definitely be back.
This restaurant is NOT worth the hype or the price.
I ordered the pani puri, and it was honestly one of the worst pani puris I have ever had. It was extremely sour, lacked flavor, and somehow still felt dry.
Next, I ordered the beetroot croquette. It tasted okay, but the inside was extremely soggy.
Lastly, I ordered the chicken tikka masala. It was passable, but the chicken tasted excessively smoked. I could literally taste nothing but smoke.
Presentation cannot compensate for poorly executed food. If you have $150–$200 to spare and only care about how the food looks, then yes, sure, this place is great.

Went to ssaanjh with some expectations given the good reviews, but very disappointed in the food. We ordered butter chicken and dal makhani. Butter chicken tasted weird and the chicken had zero seasoning. The Lachha Paratha felt it was frozen and then overcooked. Dal makhani was basic. Mango lassi was disastrous. Pricey for a very disappointing meal. Do not recommend this place.

This Indian restaurant on Beacon St in Brookline has so much going for it. Yet, I was somewhat forced to give it a lower rating than I would have liked because I have really not experienced such small portion sizes in any restaurant. The food was great, the service was excellent, but they skimp on portion sizes to an extreme degree which made me given them a 3 star rating. I understand that costs are going up for establishments with inflation, but they really have to do something about their portion sizes for how much they charge for the items on the menu - particularly the kababs.

Came in with high hopes after seeing Ssaanjh all over social media. The presentation is genuinely stunning and sets this place apart visually. But as they say, all that glitters is not gold. We ordered the dahi puri, spinach kebabs, paneer pasanda, chili garlic naan, roti, and sweet lassi. The spinach kebabs were the one standout of the night. Everything else was underwhelming and didn’t quite live up to how it was described on the menu. Portions are small across the board and hard to justify at this price point.
The bigger issue was the service. Our food arrived cold, not warm, not lukewarm, cold. When I flagged it, our server admitted she had forgotten to bring it out after it was ready, and then suggested I should have said something sooner. No apology, and the blame was redirected entirely to me. That’s just not acceptable. Beautiful restaurant with a lot of potential, but between the food and the service, it didn’t deliver. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants in Boston worth exploring first.
