My review is basis my side quest of Indian Buffets in the area.
This place disappointed on all fronts, variety, quality, temperature, service, and most importantly, taste.
Sambar was a thin watery liquid. Matar Paneer had teeny tiny pieces of paneer which meant hunting for paneer like one does in their hostel when they are late to eat. Chicken tikka masala looked okay, but tasted like someone who has a theoretical idea of the dish made it for the first time.
Dishes that barely saved this buffet experience were the samosa with chole, goat curry and chai.
Another frustrating experience here was they never refilled their dessert. So when prompted, they gave some to us separately. (Exactly opposite of what a buffet is).

Wonderful Indian food with great, community minded owners. When our kids were in High School, this gem of a restaurant generously donated their first-rate food to school events, including athletic tournaments. I’m convinced some participants came to the evens just for Shan-Punjab’s food. Best two or three word recommendation combination: must go or must order out!

Butter chicken had too much cream. meat was unmarinated chicken. Biryani was like chicken fried rice, just colors no flavors. And why string beans in biryani? Who are you catering to? Only order if you’ve never eaten Indian food before but even then don’t let this place be your first Indian food. Lamb Rogan Josh should not have tomato paste.

The reason I have given a 4 is that they gave me my mango lassi to go in a container that you’d put food in, which I’ve never seen an Indian restaurant do before and it delayed my ability to enjoy it since I had a twenty minute drive home and no spoon 😅 and I wanted to enjoy it on the drive back home. The mango lassi itself is great. Fantastic taste and not overtly sugary. The food itself amazing and very good. I got paneer tikka masala which had a very authentic taste and paneer pakoras which I really appreciated their version of it. Breads were excellent.
