We were excited to have dinner at Mastro’s in the Seaport District of Boston for the first time, and while the food itself was of good quality, our overall experience was disappointing.
Unfortunately, we could barely enjoy our meal because it was extremely salty. The ribeye, garlic mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach were all overly seasoned, making them difficult to eat.
The service also fell well below our expectations. Although we had a reservation, the hostess seated us about 20 minutes late. Our waiter was very slow throughout the evening and even brought another table’s drinks to us, which we had to point out because we hadn’t ordered them. To top it off, after we finished our meal, it took approximately 25 minutes for him to bring us our check.
We had been looking forward to our first visit to Mastro’s and expected a much better dining experience, especially given the restaurant’s reputation.

We wanted an iconic restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and this was it! We had a nice mix of surf and turf and the drinks were epic. It was a Tuesday night and the place was packed. It was rather loud but worth putting up with. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nice night out.
This past weekend, we visited to celebrate my friend's birthday. It was very busy, but the atmosphere was enjoyable.
One thing to be aware of is that there is little to no cell service inside, so you won't be able to use your phone unless you connect to the restaurant's Wi-Fi. However, once connected to the Wi-Fi, you won't be able to receive phone calls—only use the internet.
Another issue was that outside birthday cakes are not allowed inside, even just to take photos. This policy was not mentioned on the website. I specifically checked before visiting and didn't see any information about it. I found this disappointing and unprofessional, especially since many people come here to celebrate birthdays. If this is the restaurant's policy, it should be clearly stated online so guests know in advance.
As for the food, I ordered the steak, which was good. Unfortunately, the sides were underwhelming. The mashed potatoes were overwhelmingly garlicky and didn't complement the meal.
Overall, I'd rate my experience a 2 out of 5. While the atmosphere was nice, the lack of communication about important policies and the disappointing sides made the visit less enjoyable. I don't plan on returning.

We had an incredible dinner at Mastro’s! The seafood tower was fresh and beautifully presented, the lobster bisque was rich and delicious, and the bone-in ribeye was cooked to perfection; tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The broccolini and mashed potatoes were the perfect complement to the meal.
A special thank you to our wonderful waitress, Jenny, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We also loved that Chef Mateo came out to personally check on our table and make sure everything was to our liking. That level of hospitality and attention to detail made an already amazing meal even more memorable.
Thank you to Chef Mateo, Jenny, and the entire Mastro’s team for such an exceptional dining experience. We can’t wait to come back!

Food and service was 10/10, food comes out promptly and hot and there’s a lot of staff to support guest needs. Cocktails were perfect, steak was cooked to the desired temp, clean and contemporary setting.
Definitely a once in awhile type of visit as it is very pricey but that’s what you’d expect when you make a reservation to come here. We will be back.
