I was really excited to try Ethiopian food here, which made this experience especially disappointing.
My friend and I ordered together; I wanted the lamb combo and my friend wanted the chicken combo. Since we planned to share, the cashier, Sowmaya, suggested putting both orders on the same plate. We agreed.
About 15 minutes later, our food came out and it was a very small portion of lamb only. Confused, my friend went up to ask because we had ordered both chicken and lamb. Sowmaya told us that we had ordered two lamb combos instead.
I then went to explain the situation myself. We had been charged for two individual meals with different proteins. There is already a lamb combo for two on the menu, at a significantly cheaper price, so it wouldn’t make sense for us to intentionally order two separate lamb meals, and then ask for it on the same plate - and when we had clearly discussed wanting different proteins. We asked if we could talk to the manager, she said they "were out of station".
We had tipped because we expected good service and a positive experience, so it made the interaction feel even more disappointing. We completely understand that mistakes happen, but this could have been resolved easily. What was frustrating was that there was no effort to correct the order, no acknowledgment that there may have been a misunderstanding, and no offer to bring the chicken or find another solution. In fact, she was very condescending and even insinuated that we were stupid. Instead, we were repeatedly told we had ordered incorrectly. I'm incredibly incredibly disappointed by this experience, and the cashier, Sowmaya. DO NOT come here unless you want to be scammed out of your money.
