Out of the Woods is doing a lot right. The rotating menu keeps things interesting, and every plate looks ready for its close-up. The dishes have their own creative spin, including an espresso crème brulée that may have ruined the regular version for me.
My wife said her salmon was cooked perfectly, and the bite I stole confirmed it. But my duck stole the show: beautifully prepared, almost as rich as red meat, and so photogenic I hesitated to cut into it. Almost.
The service was genuinely friendly, and we saw the owner bringing dishes to tables himself. My only suggestion: dim the lights a touch. The food already knows how to shine.

First time at Out of the Woods yesterday. I found this restaurant when looking around in Google maps a month ago. Quite the serendipitous find! Nice energetic room, apparently a new bar to be installed at some point! Anyway, onto the food, had to have the grilled venison (perfectly cooked - rare, with an ample portion for my wife and myself. Also had the biscuits. Quite good with the duck fat. My wife had the fig-glazed duck breast and said that it was one of the best duck dishes she ever had. Myself, the grilled pork loin. Another large portion and nicely presented also. Both dishes had excellent presumably local vegetable accompaniments, along with tasty sauces. By the looks of previous menus, the chef changes meals out seasonally, so will definitely be adding Out of the Woods to our Saturday night rotation. Kudos to the chef and the waitstaff for an excellent night out.

Everything we had was amazing, and we will be back for the other half of the menu. Everyone needs to order the gazpacho! Great staff, indoor or outdoor dining. Excellent.
This place is more like a wealth extraction service than a restaurant. Their slogan is “elevated farm to table dining”
Elevated means they are charging a premium price, and they clearly want you to know.
Farm to table means they are supporting local farmers and a local food network. Thats what that means, because otherwise all food comes from farms.
They are only charging the premium price, not offering the latter. The food absolutely does not deliver and they dont mention anything about farms or their food or anything. Thats the dead give away, its almost certainly a bait and switch. Anybody going through the great effort to source fresh local produce and meat which demands a premium is going to tell you all about it. Go search any farm to table restaurant you'll see exactly what i mean. They appear to be trying to capitalize on the trend of farm to table dining.
The pistachio halibut was super bland and not great at all for $52. The carrots dont go at all. The pork was just not great and bland.
The biscuits were ok.
In my opinion these types of establishments are the worst. They are undermining the whole movement of healthy food and local communities having ownership and involvement over their food networks.
We were super excited to try this place and had high hopes. We love to dine farm to table and have done so at many places like this. That being said, this place is definitely overhyped. Farm to table? Usually restaurants that say that will tell you what farms the food is from or say more about the meats but they are not descriptive and this part is very overlooked. It was expensive for what it was. The presentation was good but the food missed the mark. We really wanted to like this place but for the price it’s not a great value. Service was good however and everyone was friendly.
