I used to go to this Taco Bell all the time and rarely had an issue other than the occasional missed item and whatnot, but that’s typical of fast food unfortunately and usually not that big a deal. But I went like a month ago and had ordered on the app. I have an egg allergy (non-life threatening, i just get sick if I ingest more than a little) and specifically have to customize and remove the chipotle and jalapeño sauces on items that come with either one. A couple of the items I ordered typically came with those sauces so I made sure to remove them. When we got to the pickup window, they told us they were out of Baja blast which is a big bummer because we’d upgraded to large sodas because the Baja blast is half of what we go there for. I’d asked the guy at the window if we could switch them to a singular Baja freeze instead but he just looked at us and sassily said that it cost more. I was kind of confused because our two large sodas are a similar price to one small baja freeze, but after giving us gruff and seeming incredibly annoyed, he did give us the small Baja breeze so it was whatever. He hands us our food and we go to check our food in the parking lot before we leave. Almost every item I’d customized had the sauces on them. I’d also ordered a nachos bell grande dip and it had spilled all over the bag so half of it was gone, soaking through the bottom of the bag. I walk back in with my two items and the nacho dip to ask if I can have them remade. There’s already two guys waiting for service/doordash. I stand by the counter and it’s a full 5+ minutes before anyone comes over. The guy at the drive thru window was barely doing anything and didn’t even have to take orders because of the new AI system, so it was weird that he wasn’t doing anything on the register, but whatever, maybe he had more to do that I couldn’t see. It’s the same guy who gave us our order, so I’m already worried he’s gonna be unpleasant because of our previous interaction when I went through. He finally comes over and I tell him about my issue and ask to have the items remade. He just goes “do you have the receipt?”. I tell him that I have the online receipt if that works. He looks through it and goes over to the lady making food in the back to tell her. After a minute she comes over, seeming a bit annoyed. I explain the situation and she goes “so this is your fault, not ours?”. I was kind of taken aback because the receipt literally showed that I had customized the items to remove the sauces. I tell her no and show her the receipt and she tells me that sometimes the order receipts don’t show things like that. I totally get that, so I told her that’s fine, I was just looking to get them remade because I can’t eat the sauce due to my allergy. I explain that I can have everything except the chipotle and jalapeño sauces and give her the items I want remade. She seemed pretty annoyed and goes to the back counter and proceeds to yell out each ingredient for the item she’s remaking. I tell her it’s all fine, I just can’t have those two sauces due to my allergy. She then does the same thing with the other item. Mind you, those two guys are still waiting. It was super embarrassing to stand there and have her call that across the kitchen and then for me to have to yell back that it was just the two sauces and that anything else they come with would be fine. I’d also paid more to add onions to one of the items but I didn’t even bother trying to explain that because of how frustrating the situation already was. Finally she brings the two items over, but I hadn’t even had a chance to ask if I could get a new dip since half of it had spilled out in the bag. This definitely annoyed her, so she brought it back to remake it and proceeded to call out all of the ingredients in that one as well, which was unnecessary because I hadn’t even customized it since it didn’t come with chipotle or jalapeño sauce, it was just half empty. I finally get all of my stuff and leave, but I felt so stupid and humiliated. I used to go all the time, haven’t been back since.
