We visited The Noble Savage on September 11, 2026, at approximately 6:10 p.m. with a party of five. This was our first time dining there, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing and not what we expected.
It took approximately 30 minutes to receive our alcoholic drinks, and we could see them sitting on the bar counter for quite some time before they were finally brought to our table. In fact, a member of our party eventually had to get up and ask our waitress to please bring the drinks to the table.
We ordered the Margherita Flatbread, which is described as being made with house-made marinara, mozzarella, tomatoes, and fresh basil. Nowhere on the menu did it indicate that it would be spicy. It was so spicy that it was essentially inedible. When we brought this to our waitress’s attention, she told us that another customer had complained about the same thing and that she had informed the manager/owner.
When the bill initially arrived, the flatbread had not been removed. My brother-in-law questioned the charge, and the waitress told him that the manager would not take it off the bill. She apparently brought the issue to the manager’s attention again, and only then was the flatbread comped. Despite being made aware of the problem more than once, the manager never came to our table to speak with us or acknowledge the situation.
We also ordered two chicken sandwiches, one grilled and one fried. The menu specifically states that the sandwiches are served with house-made honey mustard. Our waitress asked what sauce we wanted for the fries, and I requested honey mustard. At no point were we told there would be an additional charge. My niece requested a side of mayonnaise. When the food arrived, the sandwiches had mayonnaise on them instead of the honey mustard listed in the menu description.
The honey mustard itself was also extremely spicy, to the point that we could not eat it. Again, there was nothing to indicate that the honey mustard would be spicy.
The waitress also explained that the kitchen would not provide extra condiments, including ketchup, unless they were rung up first. While that may be the restaurant’s policy, the additional charges were never explained to us when the condiments were requested. We also noticed an extra condiment charge for something we had not asked for. When the waitress brought the receipt back to our table after paying, we saw that the manager/owner did remove the condiment charges from the bill, which we appreciated.
The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, possibly because a previously booked retirement party was occupying an entire side of the restaurant. From what we observed, the service issues did not seem limited to our table. Other customers who were not part of the retirement party also appeared to be waiting for service, while the retirement party itself seemed to be receiving much more attentive service.
We understand that restaurants get busy, but customers should still receive reasonably timely service, accurate menu descriptions, correct orders, transparency about additional charges, and some acknowledgment from management when a legitimate complaint is made.
Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing first experience. The only bright spot was that we managed to make it to our concert, although we arrived a few minutes late.
Based on this experience, we would not be inclined to return.
