  We had such a wonderful experience at Tacos del Cartel in New Orleans! The food was absolutely delicious — we ordered couple of margaritas, some appetisers and main dish like guacamole,Short ribs,Enchiladas,Tres leches, and everything was flavourful and satisfying. The margaritas were especially refreshing, and the whole meal was a great experience. Our server, Sara was amazing! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Her service really made our visit even more enjoyable. Great food, great atmosphere, and wonderful service. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in New Orleans! 🌮🍹✨

  Do not waste you money or time. This place is so over-rated! The atmosphere is cute, food is average , service is horrible!!! The server dropped a plate and sauce got all over my jacket. Mexican food is cheap, why it costs 20 dollars for a Mexican bowl and 26 dollars for birria is beyond me!!! Go to Chilangos Seafood , its sooo much better! Authentic food and the service 100%.

  ⭐ Disappointing Birthday Experience We came from Austin, Texas, with a party of 11 to celebrate a birthday, and unfortunately, our experience at Tacos Cartel was extremely disappointing. I’ll start with the positive: we loved the ambiance. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere, and we were excited to celebrate here. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended for us. Our party was seated outside, and while we were there, we saw a rat running around the patio and CLIMBING ON THE TABLES where guests were eating and where other guests would eventually be seated. The staff seemed completely unfazed by it, almost like Jerry from Tom & Jerry was part of the staff. 😳 It honestly made me wonder whether it had been running across our table before we arrived. That was extremely unsettling and raised serious concerns about cleanliness. The service was incredibly slow from beginning to end. It took forever just to place our order, more than TWO HOURS to receive our food, and then another long wait just to get the bill. When the food finally arrived, the fajitas were burnt and the skillet wasn’t even sizzling. Coming from Texas, we know fajitas when that skillet hits the table, you expect to HEAR it! Instead, we received far more vegetables than meat, and the side of beans was served in what looked like a tiny sauce dish. The enchiladas came out cold and had to be sent back. After waiting more than two hours for our food, having to send food back because it was cold made the experience even more frustrating. We brought our concerns to the staff’s attention. We traveled from Austin specifically to celebrate a birthday and were really looking forward to having a great dinner, but unfortunately we left extremely disappointed. The ambiance has a lot of potential, but based on our experience, the extremely long wait, burnt and cold food, small portions, lack of meat, and especially seeing a rat climbing across the patio tables made this an experience we definitely would not want to repeat.

  Since we walked in the door, it seemed as if we were a bother. When she brought us the guacamole appetizer, we asked for more tortilla chips since we had eaten the ones that came with the salsa. She infirmed us that we had to pay if we wanted more tortillas. When we asked if any chips came with the guacamole, she said oh yeah i guess so. The waitresses and 4 or 5 other employees just stood at the host stand talking to each other the entire tine we were eating. Not once did she ask if we wanted anymore soda or drinks. I guess since were a group of 6 and the tip is automatically added for groups of 6 or more, it didn't matter. Not sure who served the folks that said that the service is so amazing, but wish we would have had that experience.

  Lively place and lots of fun for birthdays or other celebrations although the noise level is a bit high. Overall the food was ok although the Queso was cold when received and sent both back to reheat, also was not thick enough, someone ordered a steak and was told they might not have it, waitress stated she would go ask her manager, took a long time to return and still no answer, then stated they might be able to get one from their other location, left again and had to flag her down for an answer which she still didn’t have, questioned where it would have been coming from if they did have it and she stated they had two affiliates nearby, a speak easy and some other place, so we decided against that particular steak and another dish was ordered, she originally stated she would wait to put the order in all at the same time but that’s not what she did, everyone’s food arrived and the person who was trying to order the steak did not have his. In addition someone ordered the shrimp cocktail as their meal and it was brought out before everyone else’s. Service was a little all over the place. Waitress was friendly but just not on top of her game with the steak situation. Some entrees were good and others not so good. If you are looking for a lively experience with fun cocktail options this is a good go to.
