We went to tacos del cartel, and the staff was really nice and accommodating. The food was okay—not bad, but nothing that really stood out. It’s a cute place to grab a few bites and hang out with friends. The restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms. I probably wouldn’t go back, but overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Solid Refined Mexican Food. Good margheritas , fresh Chips and Varieté of Salsa- friendly staff and good vibe- my lunch was a Mexican Bowl with chicken- fresh and tasty Word to the wise- there was a 20% Service charge for me as a lone diner it’s added before the tip- so Buyer beware- I was a little surprised when I settled the tab…

I’m not gonna lie, these people are really weird. I was a regular. Have since moved out for months now. I was there on cinco de mayo where a lamp fell very close to me. I was told that my check would be comp’d and it never was. I later heard that the same girl that told me she would comp my check was talking about me. I don’t know these people like that. Anyway, the food is decent. The drinks are good but I’ve also heard about and seen how they treat their staff. Very embarrassing. Will literally never be stepping foot in there again. Do better or maybe get some self respect in general. You’re welcome btw. 🥰

During my trip to New Orleans for a convention, I stumbled upon a hidden gem called Tacos Del Cartel. I decided to grab a quick lunch at the bar, and to my surprise, Leo the bartender was incredibly attentive. Despite the full bar, he managed to chat with everyone, ensuring that we all had a great time. Not only did he keep us entertained, but he also surprised me with a delicious mezcal cocktail that wasn’t even on the menu. It felt like a VIP experience. I can’t wait to return to New Orleans, and I wonder if they should open one of these amazing restaurants in Austin.

I gave this place 2 shots and they failed both times. The first time we ordered a bottle of champagne. They poured it for us and when we checked the bottle they served us a bottle of Wycliff and charged $60 for it. They have it labeled as a nicer bottle on the menu but don’t disclose it until you have two glasses conveniently poured in front of you. You will receive an entire ice bucket treatment for this bottom shelf crap. The food is low tier. They turn people down at the door because they are booked out for the night but you will notice that half the restaurant is empty on the inside. The second time we went I ordered the same bottle that they show on the menu and they tried to give us wycliff again. I had to stop them before they poured it. It must be the go to move for them. The air conditioner was also broken on our second visit and we asked why they didn’t inform us before our entire reservation party of 12 showed up, they said “well it broke only 3 hours ago..” That was 3 whole hours of time they could have informed us. I love spending $800 dollars to eat low tier food in 80 degree temperature. This place is what happens when Ruth’s Chris, Taco Bell, and inconvenience make a baby. I hope you enjoy the $25 mini tacos hanging off a clothes line. Horrible.
