My experience at House of Blues New Orleans was beyond disappointing—it was flat-out bad customer service from start to finish.
We were seated and waited over 20 minutes with no one coming to our table—not for drinks, not for food, nothing. Meanwhile, other tables that were seated after us were fully served before anyone even acknowledged we were there. That alone set the tone.
We were eventually told we had to go to the bar ourselves just to place an order. After doing that and explaining no one had helped us, the bartender reluctantly took our order. About 20-30 minutes later, my niece received her seafood pasta, which she said was good—but my food never came, 30 minutes still waiting.
I waited 45 minutes, asked about it, and was told “5–6 more minutes.” That time came and went—still nothing. It took a busser noticing the issue and stepping in to get answers before my food finally showed up. By then, I had completely lost my appetite and asked for my check.
Our waitress, Brittany, never once came to properly check on us—even after the first round of food came out. Yet I clearly saw her actively checking on and interacting with other tables around us, which made the lack of attention to our table even more noticeable and frustrating.
Instead of taking accountability, the waitress brought the bill with only a 20% discount and never once escalated the situation to a manager on her own. The busser had to do that too. That says a lot.
To make matters worse, the atmosphere already felt off. The vibe leaned heavily country/jazz, and my niece and I were the only people of color in the area we were seated in. Watching others be served quickly while we were overlooked didn’t sit right, and it definitely heightened the frustration. My niece—who is a news reporter in New Orleans—was completely baffled by how poorly everything was handled.
This wasn’t just slow service—it was disorganized, dismissive, and uncomfortable. Definitely not a place I’d return to after this experience.
Our waitress name was Brittany, a total mess!
