About

Seafood RestaurantCreole RestaurantAmerican Restaurant
Frankie and johnny’s restaurant was opened in 1942 by Johnny Morreale and his then brother in law Frank Gaudin. The restaurant thrived feeding hungry dock workers and merchant men who made a living working on th river. Besides the abunundant seafood prepared with care, the hallmark of this small eatery was Johnny’s warm personality and genuine love of the restaurant business. Today we continue Johnny’s mission by pursuing our one simple goal: to be the best neighborhood restaurant in New Orleans. Thank you for visiting Frankie & Johnny’s!

Seemed to be a local restaurant, which was exactly what we were looking for. The waitress Rose was very helpful and entertaining. We were on a girls trip to celebrate a birthday. Once rose was aware of the birthday girl, she immediately came back with fun birthday sunglasses and made the birthday girl feel very special. She sat down and demonstrated how to eat the crawfish, which were delicious. We also had po boys, fried seafood platters, everything was top notch. The food was great, the drinks were cold. Highly suggest.

of all the places we ate in New Orleans, this was the one I was the most excited about. everyone claims the expensive jewels in the French Quarter have the best food, but just because you have to put on a jacket and sell a kidney to pay for dinner, doesn't mean it's the best food in town. we took a city bus from our hotel in the Garden District and right before our stop, the bus driver just stopped the bus and disappeared. now that was clever of him, so we hopped off the bus and walked around the corner and there she was. we sat at the bar and were immediately waited on by the bartender, who greeted us with a big ole smile and took our drink orders. i almost had the menu memorized at this point and ordered grilled oysters and the catfish and shrimp. my wife got the onion rings/peppers and gumbo. We had the bread pudding for dessert. it was a fantastic evening, our bartender had so many recommendations for us, and the gal next to us ate an entire platter of crawfish right before our eyes. we said adieu and left forever, but i want all you to know, this place is for real! no pretentious dinner jacket required.

Amazing restaurant. I felt like I was at home. We had a restaurant growing up similar named "Hymels" and there's Landry's in Pierre Part. Just good seafood and good cooking. And iykyk the give you the cold butter for ypur pre meal snack crackers and you can smooth the butter out. That is incredible!

My wife and I ordered a stuffed artichoke and 3 pounds of crawfish. The stuffed artichoke was flavorful. The problem was that it was poorly prepared making it extremely messy and difficult to eat. The crawfish was way overcooked so it was rubbery and hard to eat. It's a shame because the flavor was good. I ordered it with a basket of sausage, corn, and potatoes and received 4 really small potatoes that were soggy mushy (like mashed potatoes)and a bite of sausage. The sausage tasted like it's Hillshire Farms, nothing special. Crawfish is 9 bucks a pound and the basket of fixins was 5 dollars. There's a lot of bars and breweries that will offer crawfish for half that price. The service was just bad. Really bad. We started with one server that brought us one of our drinks. Another server brought us the other drink. I had to hunt down another server to bring us a refill. A different server brought us our food. We didn't have any napkins at our table, so we had to steal them from another table. Then, I had to go to the host to let me pay my bill to leave because no one ever checked on us. It felt like we were having to find people to just let us eat there. The table was sticky and not clean. I had heard great things about Frankie and Johnny's and was excited to eat there. Unfortunately, I left disappointed.
