Chemin à la Mer, a French Quarter Steakhouse at Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans, offers panoramic Mississippi River views and a menu featuring specialty steaks, fresh Gulf Coast seafood, and a grand oyster bar. Under the direction of James Beard Award-winning Chef Donald Link, enjoy classic cuts like A5 Kobe Strip and Pan-Roasted Filet Mignon, along with seafood dishes such as Snapper Ceviche and Steamed Louisiana Shrimp. Ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, this premier New Orleans restaurant offers dishes elevated by refined technique and infused with regional flavors and creative flair, making it a standout choice for a memorable dining experience.
We were excited to find that Chemin à la Mer hosted a 4th of July event at the Four Seasons, and made sure to book our seats for the party. We expected a high-end, thoughtfully curated dinner experience with music fitting of the 250th celebration of US independence since it was about $500 for two people, but left horribly disappointed - the food was lukewarm at best, the various meats in the buffet (brisket, hot dogs…yes hot dogs, tomahawk steak, etc) were dry, the seafood was predominantly served in buffet format, and the plated dishes were largely comprised of fried food.
While I understand it being busy, the service was lacking - probably because the event included a 20% service charge, hence removing any motivation to provide more personable service.
We will not be returning to Chemin à la Mer or New Orleans in general.

One of the best dining experiences we had in New Orleans. The oysters were the freshest we tasted during our trip—clean, sweet, and free of any shell fragments or grit. The seafood gumbo and Shrimp Rafael were both outstanding. Our server and the sous chef were attentive and welcoming, making the meal even more enjoyable. The only minor area for improvement was the host stand, which felt a bit formal compared to the warm hospitality we experienced throughout the rest of the restaurant. We’d definitely return.

Went on Father’s Day. The $17 dollar gumbo was below average. It was watery and had one shrimp and one tiny oyster, asked for a little extra rice and was charged $5. The Salmon had bones in it and the $75 steak was not cooked as ordered. The floor under our table was dirty and the chair put a stain on my wife’s pants.

I’ve just finished breakfast... the only good thing was the coffee—just the coffee!
First of all, the hostess was extremely unpleasant—terribly curt, like a menacing prosecutor conducting an interrogation.
A note for the kitchen regarding the avocado toast: wrong type of bread! And a poached egg shouldn't be "well done" on toast like that! The fruit platter was very stale—likely from the day before.

We take our family to the oyster bar as soon as we arrive in town! Best raw oysters in town with a good selection. Fun to sit at the beautiful bar over looking the river.
Champagne and delicious gumbo!
