Frommer's may recommend this place, but I don't. The young woman who took my order was incredibly rude. So rude that if I hadn't been so surprised that I would have asked for my money back and just left. The beignets were okay, but didn't really seem to be fresh. I paid $15.50 for their Decatur Club. It was blah and a bit small for the price. My iced cafe au lait was $5 and I was really surprised how small it was when the unpleasant cashier handed it to me. The bartender wasn't great, either. When I got a drink, I also asked for a glass of water- he gave me such a small plastic cup. That's another thing- everything is disposable. Paper boats, paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups. The amount of trash on our table at the end of our meal was ridiculous. The patio is lovely, but there are flies. They had a good jazz band playing, but they were hooked up to a sound system and the volume was set waaay too loud for the size of the place. It would have been way better if they had performed acoustically because everyone still would have easily been able to hear them, but you'd also be able to hear the people at your table speaking.

Wonderful atmosphere with live jazz playing at pretty much all times. Loved hearing Steamboat Willie at night! Food is delicious and amazing for all times of the day, especially if you’re looking for a place to try beignets :)
For someone coming to New Orleans for the first time and looking for someplace to eat good food with live music, this place checks all of the boxes.
Overhyped. Having beignet in their name they dont have enough types of beignets or very good ones. I got the plain ones and immediately wished I got the ones with chocolate drizzle. Still not terrible though! Staff were not the kindest but also I wouldnt be if I had to work in that heat. Owners get some AC. Its unfair to make employees work in that heat. Employees, quit. Find somewhere with AC. The live music is good though!
This was our first time at Cafe Beignet on Bourbon St, something we had been looking forward to for quite a while. On Google, it says their hours are until 12am on Weds which is the day we went. We arrived at 9:10pm. From the moment we walked in the door, the cashier at the counter was immediately rude. She made an unnecessary rude comment to my husband when he asked about an item on the menu, and proceeded to act like she was extremely annoyed by our presence in general. At first we brushed it off, just thinking she was probably tired or having a bad day. We placed our order around 9:15 PM and went to a table to wait. We received our food at 9:41 PM (the time screenshotted in the photo). The music was still playing at this time as you can see from the video, but people were slowly starting to leave. At 9:55pm, the security guard came up to us and told us they were closing, but since we only had our food for a little over 15 minutes, that we could stay until 10:20pm. I went back to the counter to get a to go baggie, the cashier had her headphones on, looks at me like she is extremely annoyed at the point and asked what I wanted, so I apologized and asked for a to go bag/box. 5 minutes later at 10pm, she walks by our table and says “uh uh, it is 10’oclock” and goes to talk to the security guard. He then comes to our table and says “They want yall to leave” after he already told us we could eat our food since it had just arrived a few minutes prior. The behavior was extremely uncalled for, inappropriate and unprofessional. There was absolutely no reason to behave that way. None. As excited as we were to go there because of all the good things we’ve heard, it was completely ruined for us and as much as I hate to say it, we will not be returning or recommending it to anyone. I hate leaving bad reviews and I dont…unless someone does something completely unnecessary such as this.
Hello,
I would like to report a very upsetting incident that happened on June 10 at approximately 10:20 p.m. during my visit to your establishment.
I was visiting New Orleans from Puerto Rico and was very excited to try your famous beignets. Unfortunately, what should have been a happy experience became one of the worst experiences of my trip.
I am a Spanish speaker and had difficulty communicating in English. During an interaction with one of your employees, I felt that she was being rude and disrespectful toward me. I told her that I felt she had a bad attitude, and the situation escalated. She used obscene language toward me in English that I did not fully understand. I became upset and responded, “Bullshit, you are bullshit.”
The most serious part is that the employee threw a metal bucket at me, and it hit me. Thankfully, I was not seriously injured. However, despite being the person who was physically assaulted, security removed me from the establishment without listening to my side of the story.
I find it unacceptable that a customer, especially a tourist facing a language barrier, could be treated this way. I respectfully ask that you review the security footage from June 10 at approximately 10:20 p.m. and investigate what happened.
I left your establishment feeling humiliated, shocked, and deeply disappointed. I hope this matter is taken seriously so that no other visitor has to go through an experience like this.
Thank you.

Saludos,
Molesta, respondí diciendo: “Bullshit, you are bullshit.”
