We returned to New Orleans six months ago after being away for 18 months, and one of the places we were excited to visit again was Taco del Cartel. We used to come here often, and we were pleasantly surprised to see how much they have expanded. The restaurant looks absolutely amazing, with a vibrant atmosphere that makes you want to stay and enjoy the experience.
The staff were welcoming, friendly, and genuinely warm from the moment we arrived. Jenny was exceptional—attentive, personable, and made us feel like valued guests. Her outstanding service added to an already wonderful dining experience.
The food was delicious as always, and it was great to see that Taco del Cartel has continued to grow while maintaining the quality and hospitality we remembered. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere in New Orleans!

Visited Saturday for my bday brunch with a few friends. Beautiful ambiance from top to bottom. Limited parking. Waiter was very helpful and attentive. Starters- salsa and chips, guacamole, queso. Drinks- strawberry mango. Main- chicken and waffles ( its was good without all the extra sauce. Just syrup.), Mushrooms taco, Birria.
Thank you all for a good experience!! Keep up the good work!

So I brought my mother here for Mother’s Day because the atmosphere and vibes of this place looked really nice, but unfortunately the food quality was extremely disappointing. The portion sizes were ridiculously small, almost like a kids meal, especially for the price.
I also ordered a strawberry margarita, and it honestly tasted more like old squeezed lemon with barely any strawberry flavor at all. When I politely mentioned to the waitress that I didn’t like the drink, instead of immediately trying to fix the issue, she made it seem like maybe I just hadn’t mixed it properly, even though I already had. To be fair, she did eventually remove the drink from the tab, which I appreciated, but it was still by far one of the worst margaritas I’ve had anywhere.
On top of that, the carne asada plate was extremely overpriced at $48 and had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. Most of the meat was fat rather than actual steak. Honestly, I can get a much better quality ribeye steak at Texas Roadhouse for around $28 that tastes far better than this.
The atmosphere may look great, but the food and drinks absolutely do not match the experience they’re trying to sell. I really hope they improve their food quality, portions, and consistency because right now I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
