Oh, it must have been an off day for her.
We wanted brunch this morning just because. I picked the place, because the last time we were at Toasted Yolk they were under construction. And the manager gave us a discount because of the noise.
First tip off that this might not go well, was there was only one other car in the lot, and they were at the To Go door.
Well, that means all the attention will be on us. And we were indeed the only people in the place at 8:00 a.m.
"Table for two, please."
We followed her as instructed, and passed window booths to be placed, next to the bathrooms.
Um, no. This will not do. But we were polite.
My wife asked if there was another table not near the bathroom that we could use.
The young woman literally slammed the menus down on the table, and walked off in a huff into the kitchen leaving another person to quickly come up and bring us to a table.
Suddenly, our brunch mood soon dissipated, and we felt our welcome had quickly expired.
We apologized for putting anyone in a bad mood and got up and walked out. Of course, they apologized as well, but the deed had been done.
I do not want anyone in the kitchen that is angry at me.
The kicker is that there is another brunch spot nearer home than this one. And that's the one we went to and received excellent service.
Lafayette has so many choices for dining that one wrong move will strike you from the list. Sadly, this was a wrong move.
I guess that only leaves fifteen other choices.
